Breast pump coverage under Affordable Care Act « Back to Group Discussions

I just found out that a breast pump is supposed to be covered 100% by insurance for me thanks to the affordable care act (after Jan 1, 2013 for me)... As long as I can find an in-network durable medical equipment provider that will sell me one.

I'm going to try calling Apria (I found someone online who said had breast pumps). Psyched if this works!

I think you should call your insurance company, and the hospital you are delivering at. A lot of hospitals are in-network providers. My own coverage for a pump doesn't kick in until my April 1st policy renewal date, so I am going to go back to the hospital to buy one. Thanks Obamacare!

Yeah, my insurance company informed me that they would cover the purchase of a breast pump after January 1st, as well. I still have to actually look at the information they sent me on the subject. :D

This may be a bit of a hot button issue but I wonder if it's covered on the state insurance? Shall have to do some digging...

My husband told me about this (he had his insurance information meeting today which we have to use). Luckily, I still have my old one, but it is a relief it if doesn't work. (I wore one out).

Pete is trying to talk me into picking one up under insurance, regardless, just because of our past experiences when we needed one fast.

If your insurance covers it I say pick one up to be safe!
