Gestational Diabetes Testing - Page 3

Sorry you didn't pass.  :(  The three hour test is brutal.  I just did the one hour again today, I'd done it at 13 weeks and passed, but they made me take it again today.  That stuff you had to drink made me so sick and light headed.  I almost passed out leaving there after an hour. I pray I pass this time, last pregnancy I ended up having to monitor my blood sugar, and I don't want ot have to do that again.

So, huge doctor's office fail. Apparently, the nurse at the office read me someone else's chart, or something weird happened. I had an appointment at the nutrition and wellness center today, and the nurse practitioner was reading me my numbers, and they werent at all what I'd been told. I questioned the results, and let her know that it's not what I had been told, and she called the hospital and had the bloodwork resent to her office and then called my OB and had my results sent back from them too. They matched, so the person on the phone was just wrong.

So, here are my actual numbers:

Fasting test:  63

1 hour blood draw: 183

2 hour blood draw: 161

3 hour blood draw: 62

My doctors office require that your sugar be under 180 to not have to monitor your sugar. So, I was barely over, but I still have to monitor it. Totally no where near as big of a deal as I'd originally thought. Basically, from what I understand, my OB has to have me monitor it so that she isnt required to transfer my care to the high risk MFM clinic.

On a side note, I've lost 4 lbs this week by eating very little carbs because I was scared to death I was going to pump my babies full of sugar.

AAAAAAGH!!!  it's like the one time i went in to get a strep test and had the nurse come in to give me a depo shot!!!  so frustrating (i said 'hey, i'm just here for a strep test!' and she was like 'oh, you're not getting the depo?'  'um, no, actually i'm (it was either TRYING to get pregnant or already pregnant!)'  but glad i dodged that needle!!!)

now you can get some of those good carbs in.  i know my little one is carb craving right now!  will keep you on my heart just for the numbers staying down, but man, what a relief!

sending love to those little babies too!

Failed my 1 hr.... said my level was 171... so I have to do the 3 hr one!

Oh, so sorry, Kristin.  Good luck on the 3 hr test!

I sort of think my FPD has forgotten about mine?!  I thought she had said 28 weeks, but I had my 28w prenatal last friday and she didn't say anything about it.  I might have asked, but I forgot too.  I'm not sure if I should just be happy that I don't have to do it, or call her about it.  I eat pretty well and graze constantly.  But it definitely worries me that I can't go for more than 3 hours without eating or else I get super cranky and sometimes a little light headed and shaky.  I'm on the every two week prenatal schedule now, so I just have a little over a week until my next one and can ask then, but it's with the OB in the practice who does the u/s, rather than my regular doc.

Holly, I'm glad to hear it (mostly) worked out!

Kristin, hope the 3 hr test goes better for you.

I did my finger prick test today and was within the normal range.

any updates? i found out yesterday that my blood sugar level after the 1 hour glucola test was 71. doctor said that the crappier you feel, the more likely it is that you have lower sugar levels since your body isn't used to it.
