Monkey - I read that before we did it. We just watched him closely, never let him stick the lights or his hands in his mouth, and gave him a bath right after.
Holiday Wish Lists - Page 2
I love that photo! Thanks for posting the article, though, Monkey - there's no way we could keep Atticus's hands out of his mouth to make that safe. I can't wait to watch him see xmas lights for the first time!
I'm also thinking about asking for a little peridot ring (August's birthstone) - my wedding & engagement ring are both really thin and delicate, so a similar peridot ring on the ring finger of my right hand would be sweet. I looked around on etsy and saw some in the $30-50 range, which seems doable.
CCoello - I LOVE that pic! It's just so adorable!! I may have to steal that idea for some shots w/William (we'll make sure he doesn't eat the lights!) I love the warm ambiance of the photo....
Boots - That's an awesome saying to go by when buying gifts "something you want, something you need, something to wear, something to read".... I shared it w/DH and we wrote it down for future reference - hopefully we'll remember to teach it to William when he's is old enough to know the difference, but for now we may pass on this rule to the grandparents!
Boots, I also love that list. I think that's a great way of bringing sanity to the holiday. It's so sad the holidays became so stressful over the years. We're not at all religious, but I love the idea of a time of year where family comes together to celebrate life and family and togetherness (etc). I don't want to turn into that parent that is crazily roaming the aisles of Babies R Us a week before Christmas because my kid wants (and therefore needs) every new game/toy under the sun. I love Thanksgiving because it's a holiday of togetherness without the expectations of "getting". I hope we can make Christmas a joyous holiday for our kids without making it about expectations. I'm not sure how to do that, but I think that kind of list is a lovely start.
For those who can't afford a photo shoot, try asking at local colleges or even on craiglist. You may not get amazing shots, but it might be something you can happily edit and some students will do free shoots to add to their portfolio.
My new "ask" is a little charm with Piper's initial on it for my charm bracelet that DH got me. I love the necklace charms Boots posted and I hope there's something similar for bracelets.
Lily, I agree about Tday versus Xmas.
I also like the charm idea. I want a little Q charm, but B and I agreed we'd do each others stockings with all surprise gifts, so I don't want to tell him. Especially since I already asked him to put a zester in there. :/
