GF/CF/DF/ SF protein powder? Any suggestions?

So I thought I remembered seeing some of you share food allergies/aversions with me! And so I thought maybe you could help me out smile.gif I am gluten and dairy free (which of course includes whey and casien) and since I'm having all this issues with the pregnancy and my drs are hoping I don't go early they want to take precautions in case I do. So they told me I needed to increase my protien daily by A LOT and suggested I do this with adding a few protien shakes to my daily menu, in order to avoid the extra fat that comes with extra meat. I guess this has been know over time to help increase fetal weight, so if she is born early would have a better chance. So there enters my Delemia. I can't have anything with dairy so that includes whey, casien or gluten and I'm also not suppose to have soy either. Where might I find a protien powder that doesn't have all those things? Any suggestions would be helpful, I'm clueless lol

Bean, I just did a quick google search of vegan protein powders, and found loads of options that might work for you! (Vegan because it covers the casein and whey, and will more likely be made from alternative grains and nuts, thus avoiding soy and gluten.) Your DH might be able to find some in your local coop, even, if you don't want to wait for amazon!

Thanks everyone! My hubby found me some vanilla brown rice protien powder, I will give it a try in the morning. smile.gif

What's your favorite shake recipe?

hemp protein, coconut milk, rice milk, peanut butter, good squirt of oil (coconut, olive or flax)

BeanBean06, I was vegan for a few years and my BF at the time had a severe gluten allergy. We both worked at a health food store and tried EVERY protein/meal supplement within those parameters. The worst was a powder from split peas. By far one of the worst things I have ever tried to ingest, yuck! One the other side of the spectrum is the raw food vegan protein powder by Garden of Life. I highly recommend this powder because it also contains probiotic compounds and enzymes to increase your absorption of all the healthy vitamins and minerals it contains. I've mixed it with hemp protein at a 2:1 ratio for added Omegas and fiber. Coconut water is a great base if you don't want all the extra sugar in many fruit juices. The powder has a mild but earthy taste. I wouldn't sit around sipping on it for fun, but I've used it for months at time without developing an aversion to it like some of the other ones I've tried. There are no sweeteners or artificial flavorings added. So for my friends I add a little agave syrup and/or vanilla extract to the mix. Good luck! Midwife told me to aim for 120g of protein a day. Feels like I'm eating for a body builder!

Thank you for the great suggestion momma-bear! I have been doing well with the brown rice protein powder smile.gif my DH makes it for me with plain almond milk and bananas. So good! smile.gif if I get tired and wanna try something different I will definitely try the one you suggested! smile.gif
