Safe Remedy/Relief for Cough in an Almost-One-Year Old?

Our son is 6 days shy of his first birthday & has a terrible cough as the result of a virus we've all been passing around our home.  In fact, we had to take him to the emergency room last week for a croup-like cough and labored breathing.  He was treated with an oral steroid there & that immediately cleared up the stridor breathing and his fever also broke while we were at the hospital and has not returned.  However, now 3 days later he has a terrible cough... It isn't croupy - it sounds more like an old-man cough, so hard that it sometimes seems like it will make him vomit (though it has not).  It is clearly making him miserable - he looks like he feels lousy and can't eat (though he is still nursing well).  I have given our older daughter honey for a cough in the past to soothe it a bit, but I am hesitating with him since he's not quite fully a year old.  Any thoughts as to whether something magic happens on day 365, or is honey a week early okay?  Are there other remedies that might give him a bit of relief?  Thank you!

I have found SA (Sodium Ascorbate, a form of Vit. C) to be very effective with various respriatory illnesses.

Thank you so much for this information... Where do you find it & how do you administer to baby?

I am sorry i was not keeping up with this topic thread. I hope you found your info. The site beyondvaccination.com is helpful regarding SA administration to an infant. I like Nutraceuticals brand avail online.
