I am part of a local tiny food coop, and we are looking for a california farm or source for high quality olive oil at an affordable price. Anyone have a recommendation? Thanks!

I have an olive oil I love, but it's not from CA. I assume you're looking to buy from a local source. Good luck.

Edited to add -- a quick Google search on CA olive oil producers gave me a list of sites, including this

I've been using this for a while and get it from azurestandard by the gallon. From CA.

Here is the very best olive oil on the planet. :)  http://www.barianioil.com  I've been buying olive oil from them for years.  It's organic, cold pressed, and unprocessed.  I usually buy 4 - 8 liters every year.  The price is excellent, considering the quality.

I will second the Bariani. I sourced it for the buying club I ran in DC. It's amazing. I still buy it in bulk now. Can't beat it!

We use California Olive Ranch.  Our local Meijer grocery store carries it and I've heard Costco does too.  I've not jumped into the ordering food online game yet

I highly recommend the database of producers and sources of premium extra-virgin olive oil assembled by Tom Mueller, author of "Extra Virginity: The Sublime and Scandalous World of Olive Oil": http://www.truthinoliveoil.com/great-oils/north-america This includes numerous California producers, including the two mentioned here. Bariani is excellent; Calif Olive Ranch makes a good oil, but tends to be low in important, health-giving polyphenols. Apollo Olive Oil is excellent, and loaded with polyphenols. And, any of the stores sourcing from Veronica Foods on the list will have a range of oils, and are quite happy to share polyphenol counts and all aspects of the detailed chemistry they run on their oils.
