I want my placenta!

Hi guys, I want to keep my placenta after my c section to either plant or encapsulate. I will be in a hospital in NC, does anyone have any experience with this especially from my state? By law do they have to give it to me???

I live in WA and we just asked for it and received no opposition. They just had a rule that it couldn't stay with us in the hospital. My sister had to take it home shortly after the birth.

They will sometimes try to tell you that it's medical waste and has to be disposed of properly or go to the lab and be examined but ultimately, it's yours and you have a right to it.  Like pp stated, it usually just has to be removed from the hospital.  Bring a little cooler with you and all should be good.
