Hypnobabies

Is anyone else using Hypnobabies?  I've used it in prior pregnancies too (starting with my third) and couldn't wait to start using it again.  I love how it helps me relax, keeps me positive, confident, and just helps me feel good.

I highly recommend it for the pregnancy affirmations and relaxation techniques if nothing else.

Unfortunately I've never actually been able to use the techniques in labor because I've not gone into labor in the past 2 pregnancies (10 days past EDD my midwife dropped me and I had a repeat c-section with the third baby, and the fourth was a rcs because I broke ribs just before my EDD.)  But THIS time I WILL get to use it!

I used hypnobabies for my other birth and for the most part it was good for me. I love using hypnosis in general. During my birthing time, I was very militant about following all the directions and "doing hypnobabies" and feel that attitude took away from my experience a bit, so I'm trying to figure out how to use hypnobabies to our best benefit this time. I like the preg affirmations but especially the early birthing phase (forgot what it's called) cd. That was great.Oh, and the fear release was nice sometimes. I also like Belleruth Naparstek's pregnancy affirmations--I think I like them more than the HB version, but I haven't listened to the HB version since last pregnancy!

Wishing you a beautiful VBAC, JR'smom!

I used Hypnobabies for DD's birth. I loved it and couldn't believe how well it worked. I also loved how relaxed I was. A friend is borrowing my materials right now, but she is expecting in the first week of December and I'll start when I get it back.

I've had insomnia for hours each night lately.  At least listening to the CDs help me relax and not just lay there thinking/stressing about things.  It's kinda nice...although I'd rather be sleeping.

I've had insomnia since the beginning of pregnancy. It's not falling asleep that's the problem. I wake up in the wee hours and don't have asleep again. I've been listening to pregnancy hypnosis/affirmations to fall asleep in the beginning of the night (with a timer on my mp3 player so I don't end up listening to hours of hypnosis mp3s all night!) and it really improves my sleep quality. Then when I wake up with insomnia, I find listening to hypnosis or affirmations or spiritual/religious things, it really improves the peacefulness of my evening and keeps me from thinking all those anxious non-sleeping thoughts, too. Anyway, you're not alone in this problem. smile.gif

I did hypnobabies with both of my other two kids.  I found my book on it, have to figure out where I put the cd's.  I'm happy that is one thing when I figured out that I was done with having kids I decided I did NOT want to get rid of!
With my first two it helped greatly to relax me and provide that I had a mild birth with no tears and no drugs and no intervention.  Not sure how to do it this time because with the last two I had the spouse read the stuff to me to get me conditioned.  Now I don't have a person that I see regularly to have enough time to read them to me.  Wondering how wel it would work without having that aspect.  Heck, I haven't even figured out yet what the heck to do for birth so that i'm not alone!

Murph - look into having a doula, maybe. A LOT of doulas will do sliding scale or even free births if cost is an issue. Call around, put your feelers out - you could even have two doulas present to support you if you wanted it. You don't have to be alone - no way!
