19 Month old won't say his brother's name.

Has anyone else had this experience? My 19 month old can say several words, and he will repeat us if we ask him to say words like "Diamond. Can you say Diamond?" or "Cat. Can you say Cat?" But every time we ask him to say his older brother's name he refuses. He will say the cat's name, mommy, or daddy, or just tell us "no." He loves his older brother, and his older brother has the easiest name to say (Ben) but won't do it. He won't even attempt it.

What gives with this kid??? I feel like it's the law of the universe, a trick "you can try at home" with your own child at this age: they wont say their siblings names. Any ideas? It makes us laugh, but curious as to why.

I think its normal. It falls under the 'strange things kids do' catagory. DD refused to say Grandpa-she said it 1 time then nothing for months, he is her care giver 3 days a week so she is close to him so it was odd. Im like really you can say tractor & octopus but won't say grandpa??? If we asked her she would just smirk or say no, or ignore us. Then one day "Bahmpa" its funny cause she said "Grandpa" The 1st time but only calls him Bahmpa. And now she has nick names for people-she CAN say their real names-like my sister we have custody of is like her older sister kind of her name is Danni-she called her Danni for like 3 weeks and now only calls her DeeDee. If we say "danni" she says DeeDee. He must be holding out for something good. Or thinking of his own name for him.
