Who to ask?

do you receive advice from your baby's doctor about solids and meals? i've tried to talk with mine about baby led weaning and he made me think that he didn't know what i am talking about. a dietitian would be better for that?

My dd is 10 months and she's really into solids but i don't know if to do what i think or to receive advice from another doctor.

I would just go with common sense. Offer wholesome, nutritious food and supervise baby closely. At 10 months food is mostly for fun and learning, not nutrition anyways. Going to a dietician at this point would be like using a bazooka to swat a fly: overkill. Everyone I know IRL does purées and baby food so I got advice and ideas online from like minded mamas. Hth. Good luck and enjoy eat.gif

I didn't bother with purees, just cooked the food a tad longer to make sure it was soft, and made the pieces tiny. My son fed himself. He wouldn't tolerate being fed. Baby led weaning means responding to what the baby wants, so neither a doctor nor a dietician can tell you what you 'should' do. Nurse when the child wants to nurse and provide food the child can eat or not. No schedules or pressure to move from one to the other. Good luck.

Ya'know, our family doctor and I disagreed about baby-feeding, and I also didn't feel comfortable continuing to discuss it with him...  I did feel comfortable simply accepting his advice, thanking him for his time (as always) and then just doing my own darn thing.  I strongly suspect he understood that I was about to go do my own darn thing, and 6 months after the feeding discussions, he mainly just tells me to keep doing "whatever" I'm doing because "it's working".  ROTFLMAO.gif

I like to get a variety of options, so I did consult the doctor, I also consulted my mother and my sister-in-law, and I used www.kellymom.com and www.wholesomebabyfood.com a lot as well.  Feeding her was fairly terrifying for the first couple of months, but now I'm that mom that kind throws a health-bar in her general direction and calls it afternoon snack.  It gets easier.
