Ya'know, our family doctor and I disagreed about baby-feeding, and I also didn't feel comfortable continuing to discuss it with him... I did feel comfortable simply accepting his advice, thanking him for his time (as always) and then just doing my own darn thing. I strongly suspect he understood that I was about to go do my own darn thing, and 6 months after the feeding discussions, he mainly just tells me to keep doing "whatever" I'm doing because "it's working".
I like to get a variety of options, so I did consult the doctor, I also consulted my mother and my sister-in-law, and I used www.kellymom.com and www.wholesomebabyfood.com a lot as well. Feeding her was fairly terrifying for the first couple of months, but now I'm that mom that kind throws a health-bar in her general direction and calls it afternoon snack. It gets easier.
