Ha ha- y'all are funny! We did not have a name until minutes before we were discharged and I *had* to fill out the birth certificate. Down to the wire!
Amelia was very high on my list, but DH didn't like it...until the morning after birth when he suddenly did? Strangely, all the names we had compiled into our short list, she just didn't look like and suddenly everything was up for grabs again! We had just about settled on Alexandra Claire, when my father-in-law kept saying "Alexandria." This irritated me no end, so I ditched it and in the end, we came back around to my favorite from the very start- Caroline and DH chose her middle name of Elizabeth. And now of course we both love the whole name!
Of course, my mother-in-law kept saying it as "Carolina," thinking that I had named her in honor of my sister living in NC (seriously?!). This, of course, aggravated me, but my in-laws are people for whom spelling and words are not that important. And aside from being extremely high-strung and totally OCD, I am a former national spelling bee contestant and have a degree in English. Soooo, you can see how we're different there. I just need to be accepting.
Also, I love Daphne; it reminds me of Scooby Doo- in an awesome way. Daphne was such a bada$$! The only time I've really heard the name Vera is from the show Mel's Diner, which I loved watching in re-runs as a kid. Vera was one hell of a waitress, but she didn't have the sass of Flo or the savvy of Alice. I love the name of Alice, too!
