We petition the Obama administration to:

Ban the practice of circumcising individuals under the age of 18.

Circumcision is a barbaric tribal practice that amounts to child abuse. Before any individual under go any permanent body modification such as tattooing or sex reassignment surgery they must be considered old enough to understand the consequences. You cannot understand the ramifications of this act to your physical being until after puberty, when your genitals have fully developed.

Mr. President,

  Circumcision has not place in a civilized society. And it certainly should not be imposed on a minor or someone without his full consent. Ban it in America as a humanitarian step.

I signed, even though I am Canadian.  I was a bit reluctant to create the account too, but this seemed like too great an opportunity to ignore.  So far the only email that I have recieved is an acknowlegement of my signing, and that was a while ago.

The House makes the bills, the President can veto them if he wishes. If there are no current bills banning RIC being suggested by Congress, this effort is in vain. It's not the Presidents' job to create laws, we should be aiming at getting our Congress to write protection into law for our boys, and then later lobby whoever the President is at that time.
