Kate, that is a tough situation, but you are gonna need your clothes. I would probably start by mentioning that I am growing fast and out of my regular clothes, oh boy! (Is that passive-aggressive?) But then if she didn't get it, approach it gently with a "I know this may be hard for you......but once you need them back they will sure get a lot of miles".

Katie, sounds like your dh is nesting!

So my boss totally suspected, but the funny part is that she is in CA and only saw me for like 2 days last month! So after that I went into someone else's office and said "have you noticed?" touching my belly and she said "yes, but I didn't want to say anything", HA! It's the women, they know! Anyway, its nice to be all out, even though my attempt at hiding wasn't all that successful, I don't have to think about that anymore!

Hey ladies! I just thought I would pop in and say HI and wish you all happy pregnancies!! I hope that the morning sickness has subsided by now for most of you!!

I also wanted to mention that I just got a BFP, from my first real cycle after miscarriage. So, I'm a little terrified about whether it will stick, and if it does, DH is terrified of not having a healthy baby, and if we do (which I am assuming we will), I am terrified about how hard life will be as a family of 5! But, all in all, it's the first step towards good news!

Congrats Porcelina! You're lucky to have gotten pregnant your first cycle back. My cycles were wonky for like 4 months after mine.

Haven't picked a birth doula yet- need to interview a few more before I pick one.

As for post-partum, my mom (who I have a great relationship with) and my sister (also great) have agreed to come out and stay with me for a few weeks and take care of the household (cooking, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, etc). I feel so blessed that they're willing to do that, so I can focus on the babe.

Would be so much easier if she'd offer! If it were me, I would send her a text, email, or fbook message (however you normally written communicate) and say, "I'm 16 weeks along, so exciting! My clothes are getting tight though, can I please stop by Tuesday around 5pm and pick up my maternity clothes I loaned you? Thanks!"

Sheryl, I bet it feels nice to be able to talk about it! Glad it went well! I can't imagine trying to keep it a secret that long. It seems like it would be tricky.

Kate, I hope your friend is understanding and everything goes smoothly. I agree, you need your clothes!

I wish I could just get a post-partum doula but I think I really need more than that. I will be having a c-section this time and I really need help still when DH goes back to work. I originally talked to my mom about coming and she would happily come and cook, clean and help with the kids. Trouble is she drives me crazy. Also, we don't really have a place for her to stay which means she has to stay with my brother which means I am imposing on them too. Ideally, if I could hire a mother's helper type of person for about 4 hours a day I think that would be perfect but I'm not sure that's in the budget. I'm sure something will work out. My friends i would ask for help normally are having babies in February and March.

How's everybody's sex life been this pregnancy? Mine is sucking! Even when I am in the mood I am getting claustrophobic if touched too much. Yea, we can have sex but don't touch me too much....sexy! Most of the time I am just not interested. Poor DH, but he is understanding. I tried to initiate this morning but then started getting claustrophobic and changed my mind. He seemed a little frustrated but DD woke about a minute later anyway. Later I tried to explain about feeling that way with the extra weight of boobs and the baby pushing up into my organs, etc. He said he could see how it could be like wearing a lead vest and trying to have sex.

UGH.  We've had sex once since I've been pregnant.  Before I got pregnant, I was the one with the crazy libido - something I've always been proud of!  It's weird to not be feeling like that now, although I'm starting to feel a bit friskier again now that I'm well out of the pukey days.  Of course, within the last week or so I've suddenly started feeling HUGE, which doesn't help me feel attractive.  I can't win!

Sex life has been great now that I'm over the crazy fatigue, 1st trimester I was too tired most of the time, but now I'm my extra horny pregnant self. Lots of sexy dreams lately too

Porcelina - Congrats...wonderful news!

Thanks everyone, for the ideas about my friend.  I ended up seeing her randomly yesterday afternoon and I asked about the clothes.  She was all upbeat and said she'd look through them and get them to me this weekend.  Well, now she just sent a text saying she only sees a couple of maternity tanks that are mine and wondering if I lent the rest of my stuff to someone else.  Aargh.  I know I didn't do that.  It's possible my maternity stuff is at my parents' house.  I've only moved six times since DS was born (seriously), so there's no telling what happened.  Hopefully they are somewhere "discoverable."  I really didn't want to have to buy a lot of maternity stuff, especially right around Christmas.  Bleh.

DTD - no problems on that front!  Let's just say DH finds me quite desirable right now...and I have no problem with that.

Sex, hmmm. Warming back up. Between my morning sickness and DH's UTI there was a VERY dry spell. I think we're getting back into though.

I'm in the serious dry spell crowd. When I went off the pill I had a huge libido burst for a while, so it's been annoying not to be in the mood anymore. Fortunately, we're kind of well matched as DH is writing his dissertation right now and his mind is just totally not there! 

I had (another) breastfeeding dream last night. Except, it wasn't my baby! Someone's toddler desperately needed breastfeeding and I was like, well, I'm pregnant, I can try. I latched her on and it worked! Dream-me was impressed with my boobs (ok, real-life me is impressed with my boobs these days too). Then, I, ah, um, squirted some milk onto an oreo and ate it. 

Question for y'all ... is anyone's appetite way down? I was expecting once the MS passed I'd be wanting to eat a lot more, but I often don't have any appetite at all. I often feel hungry lying in bed at night, but then not in the morning, or before dinner, etc. I'm think I'm still managing to eat enough, but DH actually said I looked a little thin the other day (I don't weigh myself, so have no idea if I've actually lost weight - would be a little surprised). Not something I'm worried about as yet, but definitely not something I expected in the second trimester.

My appetite is really variable. Sometimes I don't realize I am hungry until I start eating, so I've just been trying to get in my snacks when I should and I never miss an actual meal. I also sometimes can inhale a bunch of food (like an entire burrito and chips and guac and still wanted more at Chipotle the other day) and other times I can barely eat half of what is on my normally proportioned plate, babies having growth spurts I guess? Last pregnancy I was hungry constantly and I do have stretches this time where I am, but not all the time, so it has been weird.

My appetite has been really variable, too.  Sometimes I want nothing, and sometimes I'm completely ravenous.  Either way, it's an improvement from first trimester hell!

Porcelina- YAY :D so pleased for you, i got pregnant IMMEDIATELY after my last miscarriage (i miscarried 17 weeks ago.. i'm 17 weeks now!) its crazy!

bailey- Ah sex.. i rediscovered that a bit recently (bearing in mind daddys not in the picture) i'd been very very scared about potentially meeting someone else and having sex with someone who wasnt him whilst preg (he made it very clear to me that would be disgusting) but its done my brain a lot of good, relationship was soo unhealthy and left me such a mess.. needed a bit of healing..  however now im a bit worried because of the cervix.. so i dont know what to do.. so backing off a bit for the short term

Just got antibiotics for another kidney infection so hoping LOTS that this one doesnt deteriorate and end me up in hospital like they so often do.. Im so tired, and im hoping this is why, made it to the christmas market last night though which was loooovely :) felt really in the chritsmas spirit

My appetite is also variable. I had been up 12lb, but in the last couple of weeks its gone back down by 3lb, but I think that's just me loosing some of the extra bloat from the first trimester. I do tend to gain weight quickly in the first half of pregnancy then not gain as much in the second half, so I'm content to be up 9lb total from my pre-pregnancy weight.

As for pregnant sex. All I can say is both of us love, love, love pregnant sex. DH finds my curves a real turn on, and all the extra blood flow down there makes it even better than normal for me.

Sex - well, after the bleeding episode, we abstained for nearly 2 weeks. But then since nothing else happened and it seemed the bleeding was definitely related to the sex, we got an ok from the mw and couldn't hold out anymore, so tried (very gently) and things have been just fine ever since. I am not necessarily as in the mood as usual, but not enough to ever say no and then, it is fantastic, so no complaints here!

My appetite is still pretty strong, but has backed off a bit from the first tri. I'm not nearly as ravenous and needing snacks quite as often, but still more than non-pg days.

oo forgot to say about appetite.. one minute i cant eat a thing next minute im stuffing my face lol.. need to get into  a little bit more of a routine, especially with christmas coming up.. im definately eating too many carbs atm.. need to get more protein and a bit less carbs but when i feel sick all i want is carbs!
