Anyone else have trouble sleeping?

I'm usually ok first thing at night. Then once DD needs me, many nights I pass out nursing her or fall asleep ok afterwards. Some nights though I'm up for 2 or 3 hours, trying desperately to sleep. It's 5:15 and I've been awake since 3. During the day I function ok but then again I don't have an option and must keep up with my 20 month old. I'm freezing all the time (like I did in university after pulling an all nighter) and even though DD sleeps well with just one wake up, I feel sleep deprived. It's funny though, I'm still not as tired as with my first pregnancy. Is anyone else having sleep issues?

I had the exact same night last night, minus the nursing. My children were up at 3 arguing about who got to sleep in my bed. (!!!) (they are five and seven for petes sake) And then everyone else went to sleep and started snoring. And we live in a yurt so I could clearly hear them all.
Snoring.
I laid awake until the sun rose. And finally fell back asleep just before my husband had to go to work.
I have to say I am not in the best mood right now...nor do love this stage.

Argh that's the worst!! I've done all the night time parenting since DD was three days old since DH is an epileptic and loss of sleep is his big trigger. Fine, I understand, I don't resent him for it; it's a medical fact. But when I can FINALLY come back to bed and DH is keeping me awake with SNORING, I'm in much less rational or nice. I cough a few times and if that doesn't do it, I "accidentally" jab him in the side as I turn over and flop down not-so-gently lol. My DH isn't so bad but my dad used to rattle the rafters with his snoring. I don't know how my mom got any rest.

I can't sleep at all! I am up half the night. I can't get comfortable. I will fall asleep for an half and hour, and then I wake up again. I will toss and turn trying to get comfortable, and then my husband will complain that I woke HIM up! I finally told him to go sleep on the spare bed, and I slept so much better for the rest of the 4 hours that I had. He is too warm laying next to me... and then my pokes me with his knees. And he puts the cat on my feet.

I find I sleep best during the day which is quite impractical but since my dd is 4 and in preschool in the morning I can sleep until I need to pick her up and then we have enforced quiet time for two hours after lunch. At night my dh snores and I get too hot and crowded. I think I need a bigger bed.

I fall asleep with the kids at 7-7:30 then my nausea or over active bladder wakes me up way to early.  Then I can't go back to sleep because I'm thinking about some food I'd love to eat but we don't have in the house (last night it was ketchup chips).  I usually fall asleep about 10 minutes before the kids wake up.

I used to have a problem with insomnia that I'm pretty sure was greatly helped by vit B12. I've been taken sublingual methylB12. I'd recommend it. I've been taking 5000mcg. I plan on reducing it to 2-4 thousand mcg. I haven't had a single case of insomnia since taking it.

I used to take Melatonin, but it is not recommended during pregnancy. Thanks for the tip!! I will try this...

I also have had a hard time sleeping lately. Dh snoring, tossing, turning and also thinking about food ha ha. Im glad Im not the only one. I used to take Melatonin also and have stopped. Had my first appointment yesterday and my midwife suggested a magnesium supplement. It really helped! also helps with the constipation too.(another lovely symptom).

Arrgh, me too. I was up 2x last night to pee: 2am and 5:30. It feels like it takes me ages to go back to sleep--and that I'm never back into a deep sleep. I try to be quiet, but I wake up my husband too. He's sweet and snuggles with me (which is great, because I'm normally shaking with cold by the time I'm back in bed, but it means he's awake a few times too). I'll have to talk to my doctor about b12 or magnesium.

Argh. The 3:00 wake up fairy has come again. Once I wake up I am dooooomed.
We live close to some train tracks an there is a 2:30-3:00 freight train that rumbles by, I usually sleep through it but. No. Not any more.
A few nights ago I fell asleep at 7 with the kids and woke up at 12. And then couldn't get back to sleep for the rest of the night. (Like I'm in any shape to be pulling all nighters. )
Tried b12 and magnesium, eating/not eating before bed, not drinking so much water at night, taking/not taking my vitamins at night. Im still awake with that stupid train. If I wasn't pregnant I'd just take kava kava and go back to sleep. But if I wasn't preggo I would probably sleep through that old freight train too.
Where's my whine glass?!

Aw Wrenmoon; that's awful greensad.gif . The one thing that helps me is white noise. If you have a fan handy, putting it on for the monotone noise might help drown out the train. That's all I got. Well that and hugs!

I use a box fan for white noise. It could help.

That's not a bad idea ladies, it would drown out the snoring if nothing else. The train actually shakes the whole yurt (which isn't that hard to do really).
Having lived many years in the Bay Area of California my first night sleeping there I leapt out of bed thinking it was an earthquake and I had to drag my kids out. But at least we've stabilized all the shelves so the dishes don't rattle anymore.
I keep thinking eventually I will be tired enough after days of this to stay asleep! I don't mind prepping for newborn sleep but isn't this a little early for that?

If you have a smart phone or tablet, there's this great app called Lightning Bug that so a sound generator, but it's not just white noise. It has at least 100 different sounds, most of which are free (as is the app itself), like water, birds, rain, instruments, wind chimes, animals, ocean...you name it! I have tinnitus and I use it to help mask the ringing in my ear. Hope that helps someone!

I highly recommend box fans for white noise! Those things are so loud but not in a bad way.
