I guess it's not so absurd when you think of the motivation for such research, which is to try to shift the focus as far away from the truth as possible.

Apparently, they don't care how many billions of taxpayer dollars they spend, or how many thousands of children develop autism when most cases could be avoided.

Bottom line: pharmaceutical profits, protected at all cost.

Another sad thing: the scientists doing the actual research are probably really hoping that they've found something helpful; for the most part, they believe the propaganda that's been fed to them.
