My last scan showed cervical insufficiency, 25mm at 15w4d, they are just actively measureing it for now, but i've got in a bit of a panick over it, my next scan is monday so not long now, but i guess i'm finding the whole thing just a bit worrying, all the stuff i've read indicates this isnt the worst it could be, but i am not very far along for getting it. With my history of miscarriages i have to be honest i'm a bit scared.. Anyone had cervical insufficiency(or short cervix) and did they do anything? From what i can tell if i was a normal person i'd be on reduced activity at the moment (but i dont walk and am in a wheelchair) but its not got to be much smaller to need to be put on bedrest, and sometimes they put stitches in.
Now this is something my ob spoke about at the begginning of pregnancy, and my old rheumatologist told me it was a side affect of my condition in some women, so i've always known this mite be a possibility, but a bit more reading seems to suggest that the stitches themselves can cause miscarriage and its better to get them done before 16 weeks if possible.. so not im worried of what to do if they offer it to me. I really am VERY stretchy, so having such a short cervix could be a problem, and if its wearing down then i have very fragile tissue.
I know i have to talk to my ob about all this on monday but in the meantime any of your experiences would be wonderful to hear.
