I hope it will all work out, FarmerCathy. thumb.gif

Is anyone else starving and suuuuuuuper nauseated simultaneously? I just called my husband and told him this and said I didn't know what to do about lunch. His response was to start naming all the restaurants near my office as if making a lunch decision will suddenly cure me. Ugh, I just want to curl up and whine... which it appears I am doing.

yeahthat.gif I feel like I'm constantly hungry... I eat and then 30-60 mins later I feel like I haven't eaten all day.  Overall though, the morning sickness seems better this pregnancy than my others - though with my second it didn't get bad until 7 weeks and I'm not there yet, so we'll see.  I haven't puked yet, though I've come close.  I've also been having a lot of food cravings.  Usually I hear or think about a food and all of a sudden I HAVE to have it.

I'm still waiting for ultrasound results from Friday.  The radiology office say they faxed it to my midwife and doctor but neither received it.... I just asked them to re-fax it so I'm hoping SOMEONE gets it... nono02.gif

Crafty, I'm the total opposite. I have no appetite at all. Nothing sounds good. I've had a sandwich and a cup of herbal tea today so far...and dh basically had to force those both on me. Food doesn't make me nasious...it's just a wholly unappealing prospect. I have some herbs on the way to make myself a good nourishing infusion to drink, since I have so little interest in solid food. I can't stomach prenatal vitamins, so this will make me feel a lot better about my lack of eating habits. lol

Mamaki - how frustrating! What info are you waiting to get from the ultrasound? I hope they get back to you soon.

I'm glad I'm not the only with crazy food issues!  I feel like if I don't eat every hour or so, I'm so nauseous, but then at the same time i can't decide what I want to eat, or I really just don't want to eat!  My cravings seem very random, and I can't tell which foods are going to make the nausea go away.  Maybe you gals might have some ideas......what are you favorite foods for nausea?  Mostly I just don't want to eat, but I know I'll feel better if I eat.

Yesterday I made myself a strawberry yogurt smoothie twice, just because it was so yummy and soothing the first time!  And then this morning I had some sausage with a fried egg for breakfast and that egg just seemed like the most delicious thing I'd ever eaten......so of course, I had a fried egg again for lunch!  :)  Oddly enough, it wasn't as satisfying the second time.  String cheese seems to help too, I think it's salty things that I'm craving.  :)

I find if I don't take Diclectin I have no appetite.  I have to take is the whole pregnancy or my appetite is pathetic.

I finally got results from my ultrasound.  I have a subchoroinic bleed (same thing I had last pregnancy) so overall reassuring but not out of the woods yet.  There is still a higher chance of miscarriage and I need a followup ultrasound to make sure LO's heartrate is okay (next Monday).  I had HCG drawn today and will have a repeat in 3 days to make sure numbers are increasing.  The nausea is comforting in some ways though :)

I find eating whatever food I'm craving works well.  Other than that - my go-to comfort foods - mostly starchy stuff, soup, breakfast foods etc.  Yoghurt drinks are good too.  String cheese sounds appealing!

So hungry and nauseated too.  I had to up my egg intake from 2 to 3 for breakfast and had 3 hot dogs yesterday for lunch.  One with a gluten free bun.  lol.gif  I felt nauseated all afternoon and talked hubby into bringing home a frozen gluten free pizza from the store.  He got two just in case I need one for another day.  heartbeat.gif  Dirty dishes make me so nauseous.  Ugh.

Made all my appt.'s yesterday.  I have a high risk OB doing an ultrasound checking for any deformities in organs because of my diabetes.  I have an ultrasound with my main OB on the 28th, guess we'll have to tell DS then that he is having a sister or brother.  I told my OB I wanted to wait to hear the heartbeat at 11-12 weeks and he wouldn't go for that, so short ultrasound at 9 weeks to see heartbeat and to rule out twins.  Then labs and stuff with my endo, love my endo nurse like last time.  She is totally nice and I have been super lucky.

tiphat.gif <--- I was looking for a "waving hi" smiley and this was the closest one I could find.

I've been off and on queasy, more on than off, but so far it's really not been too bad.  I guess it's still early though, plenty of time for it to get worse.  My only bad moment was last week in Whole Foods, I passed a cheese display without seeing it and the smell set off instant and utter revulsion.  In fact that's what prompted me to test that night. orngtongue.gif

We did a hospital/OB birth last time and will be doing another hospital birth again, we live too far from civilization to try a home birth, it's an hour drive to any hospital and most emergencies are air-lifted out with an ambulance ride to the helicopter.  My DH is definitely against that.   I had a natural drug-free birth last time but I wasn't that happy with the experience, loved the hospital and the nurses but the on-call OB was terrible.  So this time I am trying something different, found a CNM practice that does hospital births, I just called them yesterday to make my first appointment which will be in a month.

Welcome Somegirl.  I had the opposite issue.  The on-call OB was way more laid back than my original one.  It was nice not to have a panicky doctor. lol.gif

I wonder if Kate Middleton will join our DDC... lol. ROTFLMAO.gif Though she may be a July EDD.

I'm guessing July, but it would be funny. Back in the day, when there were heaps of people on here, I remember thinking that, given the numbers, there were bound to be a few "famous" people on here. Actually, I remember "meeting" both Kimya Dawson (singer/songwriter of Juno fame) and Cathe Olsen (of awesome cookbook fame) on here. ;)

The ob/nurses thing is such a potshot, hey? I recently found out a little more about our shared care model here, and feel ever so slightly better about the odds of getting one of the midwives. Although, they're both UK trained, and in my experience are a totally different sort of midwife than the sort I know and love (ie: they're closer to l&d nurses who catch babies than to a canadian midwife). Looking forward to meeting them! I was supposed to go in this week for my first apt, but that felt a little ridiculous. I want to get heart tones when I go in, which has happened for me by 9 weeks in the past (but I'm fatter this go 'round, so might not get it at 9 weeks), so I called and delayed it until I'll be 10+ weeks. I like to space my apts out a little further than normal too, so won't see them again after that until close to 20 weeks.

I'm still undecided on the anatomy scan. We declined with dd, but had a quick u/s to look at placental placement at 30 weeks when my pelvic floor decided to cease being a pelvic floor. With ds, my ob was only comfortable with me declining the anatomy scan if I went to the high risk guy to look at my placenta. He was incredible. He took literally 3 seconds of film, and then went through it frame by frame and was able to ok everything from the heart to the mouth (I take meds that slightly increase the chance of cleft lip/palate). It was awesome. I'm guessing they're not going to go for the same thing here, and if I want a u/s, I'll probably have to go all in for the 20-40 minute affair. We'll see, I guess. We're actually thinking about finding out the sex this time around, which sort of shocks me. I just remember that with dd, the very first thing I looked at was her genitals, not her face, and it bothers me that that was my most pressing concern upon meeting my firstborn for the first time. Have you guys thought about this stuff yet?

We will be getting the anatomy scan and finding out the gender, DH definitely wants to know ahead of time.  I'm fine either way, finding out or not.

We've never found out ahead of time. With dd, I didn't have an US until 32 weeks, just to check for any gross abnormalities (placenta, mostly). And because I had videos of all the others, too! lol.gif I've wondered what we'll decide this time. I always have the feeling that finding out ahead is somehow cheating - not as a judgement against those who do but it's that important to me to have a surprise. We almost decided to find out with our third, but I went into a panic as soon as we decided we could. lol.gif I do love the surprises, though it can be stressful! With dd, I didn't look for gender for quite awhile as the birth ended quickly and my boys weren't there yet. So I just snuggled her until DH insisted I look! happytears.gif
post #33 of 46

I'm leaning towards not finding out the gender, we didn't with our first and did with our second, and we have a girl and a boy.  So I think it would be super fun to be surprised with this one!  But with my kids being a bit older, 10 and 6, maybe it would be easier on them to know beforehand if they have a brother or sister, especially since I'm sure my dd would like a sister and my ds a brother!  :)  Also, I have zero baby things, since we've moved since our babies and we didn't think we could have another one, so I gave everything away.  I have a sister close by with two dds so she would have lots of girly clothes, but I'd have to start from scratch for a boy.

So yea, I'm still deciding, but leaning towards it being a surprise.  :)

@Farmer Cathy, our hospital was fine with early discharge if the baby's doctor signed off on it. Our Family Doc at the time had a home birth background and was there before 7am to see E and get her home. The only other thing we had to do was a hearing test (which she failed, as all 8 hour old's do) so we reapeated it later in the week. The nurses were super nice about it getting everything ready.

I found out yesterday and am thrilled after 7 months of trying, but less thrilled about august. I do not like heat. Monkey was born in Jan and Bee in May. I also have like one pair of maternity shorts.

How is everyone doing this morning? Bed rest has me bored out of my skull. I'm crampy, still spotting, and headachey, too, but I'm getting used to the idea that those don't absolutely mean a miscarriage. This might just be how I feel for the next few months. If it means a sticky baby, that's fine with me. =D

We will find out what we are having. I figure it is a surprise at 20 or 40 weeks. I ended up with noro-virus the other night which because of all the vomiting meant I didn't keep my progesterone down so had cramps bleeding and a bad headache. Luckily I am feeling better today. I am excited to go to my RE tomorrow and see bubs heartbeat.

Ingested progesterone causes me nothing but problems, but progesterone cream has worked beautifully for me...and I know suppositories are very popular. You might want to explore something a form that can't be thrown up with your RE tomorrow. How exciting to hear the heatbeat tomorrow!!!

I'm already getting the middle of the night STARVING food issues. Already?? And peeing like all the time too. I don't see an ob for confirmation until about 10 weeks. That's how our medical system works. However, I could possibly be 10 weeks next week since my "period" spotted for only 2 days this past time?

Up at now 4 am. I get evening sick and had my first bought yesterday. Thank goodness it was the first time in two weeks husband got home from work at the normal time and took the kids for a walk so I could go to bed. Preschooler woke me up and now I am feeling poorly again. Not looking forward to two-three months of this.
