Another super quick update... My sister went into labor on her own after her dose of Cervagel... She got her epidural at 2.5cm at 4, was at 4cm by 5am, and is starting to push now (830a). =)=)=) Yay!!! She's still completely numb from the epidural, so they turned it down so she gets some feeling back, so hopefully he'll be here soon. =)=)=)

Yeah, I know what you guys mean.  It's hard to not believe in whatever you're doing at the moment.  After spending the last several months reading and researching about this, I am definitely caught up in the middle of it.  There is some very convincing research that says that most issues start in the gut.  George's psychiatrist even suggested that he should probably eat a Paleo type diet for the rest of his life (based on a study that was published last year in psychology medical journal).  Now, my dh does fit the GAPS profile perfectly (life-long digestive issues & a mood disorder).  I have always believed that diet can cure most things, it's just finding the diet that works for each individual person.  There is no one-size-fits-all, even in the GAPS community.  Many people even have to go on to supplement with extra things or do extra things to encourage detoxing and cleansing.  I do think that even though it's SLOW, that it's worth trying many things until you find an answer that works.  I have always known in my heart that George's digestive issues were linked to his mood swings, I just didn't know how to fix it until I came across GAPS.  We had been GF for years, and while that helped it wasn't enough for him.  I will stop bringing it up now, as most people aren't that interested.  BTW, George's digestion is finally fairly normal for the first time in his life!

Thats such great news, Nicole!

Amanda, I do hope you can find some kind of relief somehow, whatever that may be.  I'm sorry you guys are struggling.  Your daughter is lucky to have such an awesome and involved mother.

And Abra- I always enjoy hearing what you have to say thumb.gif

My friend just tested GBS+ and is trying to figure out what to do about it.  She is having a hospital birth and of course they tell you to come in for abx well before you might otherwise.  Her plan had been to labor at home as long as possible and now she thinks that won't be a reality.  I'd like to give her some good information to help her make a good decision for her and her baby.  Can you guys post links?  I know we've been through this and I can read through the millions of GBS+ posts here on MDC, but if any of you remember good ones, please let me know!  Thanks!

Nicole, congratulations on your nephew!

Christina, I voted, but I have been all kinds of not crafty lately (only thing I make are baby pants, whenever I want pants to match a certain shirt). No entry from me.

Who is still doing EC? How is it going now that they're walking. Shay uses the toilet when he wakes (and he still takes 3 naps a day, so we have a lot of wake ups) but he won't poop in the toilet anymore. I keep something on his rump when it's around that time of day and he looks down and says, "Uh oh." He has a huge bladder and only pees every few hours (unless he's working up to the poop). For many pees he will take himself into the bathroom and pee in front of the toilet but I'm not especially discouraged since I can see that he is moving forward and the other kids both slowed down in early toddlerhood. Sometimes he yells "pee" or "poop" before going.

We're still doing part time EC and catching maybe a third of the pees and most of the poops.  He generally starts grunting and then he'll pause and look at me.  If I take him to the potty then, we're good.  But if, say, I'm arm deep in dishes or not in the room, then I miss it.

Congrats on your nephew Nicole!

We're still doing part time EC. Only when we're at home and he's awake. Since he started exploring more 3 months ago, it's been a bit more difficult, but we catch it his pees and poops in Casey's old potty chair. Most of the time, when he wakes up, his diaper comes off immediately and I wait for a cue (he gets really quiet when he's about to pee) and he goes onto the potty. It's harder to guess his cues for poop, though. It used to be easy. Not so much anymore.

Question: Is Levi the only tot not talking yet, besides "mama, dada"?

Greta mostly just says "dada". And not really in the right context. There are several other words she can say, but I think "dada" is her favorite sound so she says it all the time. Her behaviors right now are telling me a language explosion is coming though. I remember this with DD1. My prediction is she will be picking up a lot of words in 3-ish months. She shows a lot of frustration when she can't communicate what she wants. It's leading to lots and lots of toddler-like temper tantrums right now. It's totally annoying, but I just keep reminding myself it's a phase and at the end of it she'll be learning to talk. Until then, I am just trying not to pull my hair put!

Coralie says quite a few words, but she's by far my earliest talker.  My DS didn't say anything until he was 2 and Olivine hardly said much until well after a year.  I think 13mo is still really early to be expecting a baby to have many words.

Becky, Shay's words are more like syllables in context. Pee and uh oh are his clearest words. He also says ba which means baba, bath, bye, ball. Boo, bee (baby, booby), by (bite, bike) ya (yes, thank you, here, lets go for a walk), me (I want that, feed me, mine, may I have that?), peace (please, piece), ooo (poop, Louie/dog).

I can't think of others. I remember this guessing game with DD at 17 months so I think he's fine. DS1 spoke in 3 word sentances at 18 months, but he is a strange bird. Shay does say "Bite. Me. Please." But otherwise I don't think verbal communication is where he focuses his energy.

Conner says a few... Dog, cat, mama, dada, ni ni (night night), but his main word that he says CONSTANTLY is "THAT". Everything he points to is THAT. I always tell him what he's pointing at, but he still just sticks with "that". It's so cute.
