Um, yeah, drop her and find a new one.  What's the point of a ped that you can't trust when it comes to very basic science?  Peanut allergy?  Yeah, no peanuts until at least 3.  Breastfeeding?  Whenever, wherever, whatever amount for as long as it works for mom and child.  Ridiculous.  Allergy babies tend to be skinny.  I bet she'll catch up when her body starts to get things straightened out.  Have you considered a homeopathic remedy?  We did that with Avalon and it was miraculous.  Literally b/c I'm not sure I buy into to homeopathy, but it's hard to dispute what happened.

I also learned about 'elf on the shelf' last year.  My dh was very against the idea, as he hates anything that glamorizes sneaky or naughty behavior.  He doesn't even like child books or movies that display kids being naughty..

Coralie still nurses a lot too.  I'm positive its not effecting her growth!

Yay Levi (and all the other walking babies)!  Is Coralie one of the last to be not walking?  She really isn't even close to walking..

Avery's not walking yet either, Abra.  He can stand unassisted for a few seconds and he'll walk behind things while pushing them, but he doesn't appear to be making much progress.  Of course, I know that could all change overnight if he decides to really focus on it.  I'm feeling impatient, though, because it's so cold and wet around here that he can't really crawl around outside much.  He loves being outside, so that's a bummer.

Christina, if treating the symptoms isn't working, maybe try treating the cause? Put clove oil (diluted) or orajel on his gums or give him your favorite pain reliever half an hour before bedtime. Bring a soft teether to bed (silicone cooking utensils and the one piece pacifiers are a hit in our house) and tell him that if he needs to bite, he can bite the toy. If he bites you, you will remind him that the toy is for biting and nipples are for nursing and that you will rock/hold him while he bites it, and he can nurse again when he's ready to be gentle. It's a lot harder to fall asleep when you're in pain. Shay looks like he has a small mountain range under his gums right now, too.

Ash, wow. Shay nurses more like 3 times an hour during the day and he's still gaining. Not quickly, but he's holding his spot at the top of the growth chart. The boy also eats like he means it.

The elf, I have only seen it in the big-brother-is-watching you kind of way.

I have never heard of this Elf thing... I need to Google this.

Sora took a ton of steps the whole week after her birthday, and then she decided that crawling is still most efficient, so she hasn't been doing as much walking since then. Our whole household has been pretty sick, though, so I think that is making her even less willing to experiment with walking. But last night she did do it a few more times. Then stopped. I'm in the same boat as you, Jaimee, with wishing Sora were able to walk instead of crawl when we're outdoors. I'd take her outside wayyyy more often. I can't WAIT for outside playtime with a toddler!

I can't believe that doctor, Ash. Wow.

Coralie can't even walk behind a toy yet and she hardly cruises along things (if at all).  I'd say she's still 2 months away from walking, but who knows.  I too would like it if she would walk.  While the weather has been decent here in TN, there are still colder days and she gets sad when the bigger kids go outside.

It is awesome that Eli can walk.  He is less frustrated now, because he can follow me through the apartment.  The only not so good part, our bathroom door doesn't shut well ... umm ... yeah.  He is cute though, if he needs a diaper change he toddles off to the bathroom.  Usually when I do stuff in the kitchen, I would have him in the highchair... now everytime I say that I am making tea, or dinner or whatever, he walks to the highchair and whines if I don't put him in it and take him with me luxlove.gif

Man, I wish Shay wanted to sit in the highchair. He wants to stand on the inside of the dishwasher or sit on the counter (if I'm using a machine). Or terrorize the baby. It's easier when the kids are home because he chases them around.

I don't like Elf on the Shelf, simply because it has eyes that look like they'd follow you about the room. Bolt.gif

Dsd thinks the elf is super creepy. I keep threatening to move it to her room one night... and have it staring at her and holding a knife! mischievous.gif

Our kitchen is tiny, with no counter space so Eli can't really sit up there ... Eli is usually only content in his highchair for a little while.  Pretty soon after that he just chucks all toys off his tray and whines shake.gif ... until I give him something to eat to occupy him.  Too hard to cook dinner with a whining toddler ... ick.

Tonight was one of those nights, where I was just totally amazed at the things little babies learn in what seems overnight :):) Eli is a little night owl and never goes to bed before 11pm (we have tried, but alas, he prefers that time of night and it is just not worth the fight)  Anyhow, DH goes to bed before we do since he is getting up really early in the morning for work. Eli and I went to say goodnight, and as I am leaving the room with Eli, he starts blowing kisses for his daddy! He has NEVER EVER done this before! It was such a special moment!  Awww ... :)

You're evil! LOL I don't like dolls with big eyes ever since seeing Child's Play. Even the collectible doll that Casey got for her 3rd birthday has to be locked away in a closet.

Sonja, have you considered a Kitchen Helper or Learning Tower?  I can sometimes find them used for a good deal.

Jaimee, I have heard about them, but haven't been able to see one that is affordable for us.  We are still struggling financially and haven't bought anything in a long time...  But it is a good idea :)

Yeah, they can be pricey.  But a friend of mine was just selling hers for less than $100 and you will be able to resell it after you're done using it for probably the same as you paid for it.  You can think of it as an investment?  When we had Avalon, we opted out of the more expensive learning tower and got an Ikea wooden step stool.  While the step stool is nice and has gotten lots of use, it is also rather dangerous for the kids.  Despite rubber stickies that we added to the bottom, it still slips easily on our tile and hardwood floors.  Numerous times I've been worried that a child will end up shoving the stool away from the counter and fall forward, smacking his face.  The kitchen helper/learning tower won't do this and now that I've got three kids, I really wish I'd invested in a better stool from the start.  You can often find them used on larger city Craig Lists and within parenting groups.  Just a thought!

$150-200 for a glorified stepping stool? lol lol.gif

My sister is being induced Tuesday, the day after her due date. The doctor said she doesn't believe she's making any progress and is in a lot of pain because of how big her kiddo's shoulders are. She thinks a vaginal birth is highly unlikely, but is going to let them try with close monitoring. She wanted to wait until after Christmas to induce (10 days after her due date), but my sister REALLY wants him here before Christmas, so they're doing it the 18th instead, LOL. I really hope she's able to make this happen without a csec. =( The doctor even had a hard time seeing if she was dilated at all because her cervix was so high.

Poor girl :/  Sounds like that baby and her body just aren't ready.  Does she realize she has the option of not being induced, or is she choosing to because she wants the baby born before Christmas?

Re:  Kitchen stools-  we have a very simple wood stool my husband made when he was potty training DS 7-ish years ago.  Its made from scrap wood he had laying around the garage.  It has been fixed, patched, re-nailed at least 20 times. And I love that every one of my children has used it, and I love that it is ratty and awful looking.  And I would absolutely never pay that much money for something like it.  Haha.

Yes, which is why I never bought one.  But the reality is that you can get back the same amount of money that you paid for it if you buy one used.  And like I mentioned, it's safer than a step stool and can accommodate two kids, which would be nice considering how many pushing off step stool related injuries my kids have sustained.  shake.gif

It does look alot safer than a regular stepping stool, but I have a hard time wrapping my mind around the cost. lol
