kitteh, I vote to just lose the dates and keep the thread going.

I managed 2.2 miles today and I have no idea how!  Yesterday I ran 3 miles and then we had friends over most of the afternoon and evening.  After cleaning up I got to bed around 10:45.  I was a zombie when the pets wanted to be fed around 7a.  After I fed them I crashed back into bed for another 3+ hours.  There was no drinking on my behalf last night but I feel like I'm hung over! Maybe the baby is having a growth spurt ...

I agree with Spotty4. Lets keep the thread going. Unless someone has a reason why this is a bad idea.

I got a 2.5 mile run in today during lunch! Wohoo.

OK, the dates are gone. I was crap at updating the thread every week anyhow, heh.

So yesterday I slept through my group long run. DH works all day Sundays, so if I'm going to run after noon on Sundays I have to do it with DD in the jogger, and it was raining all day so we didn't even leave the house! EEP!

I'm planning to shift my long run (9 or 10 miles!) to Wednesday. Planning to get out there soon for 2-3 today.

I'm a little worried about my half marathon in 3ish weeks. I've never been a high mileage runner. I ran my first half on an average of under 20 miles a week and managed to break 2 hours. I'm not planning to shoot for any time goals this time, but I'm a little worried that my recent low weekly miles (averaging 9 miles a week right now!) will set me up for a painful experience.

The previous half experience you mention sounds just like mine. I started training 3 weeks before the race. Averaged about 18 miles for those three weeks. I finished, quicker than I expected for not training much (1:43) but I could hardly move my legs without pain for 3 days. I'm hoping to avoid that this next time around. I'm also hoping to do a half, Feb. 16th,  4 weeks away 8 weeks. My weekly miles aren't even where yours are right now. Eek. My only plan is to be diligent for the next month, get two or three 11 - 12 milers in with some lower mid in a couple times a week and hope for the best. I'm certainly not going for a PR but I want to be able to move the next day. Perhaps I'm too optimistic but I think it's possible. If I remember correct, your about as far along as I am (15 weeks) so we should both start feeling our energy coming back which should help us get out there in the next few weeks.  I'm not sure any of this information helps but knowing you're in a similar boat as me helps me. I picture you running on days I don't want to get out there. :)

My weekly plan for the next eight weeks to prepare.

Mon : 2 - 3

Tues : 1-2

Wed : 2-3

Thurs : Rest

Fri : 4

Sat : Rest

Sun :  5-12 (4-6 for this next week, keep adding each week till I'm at 12)

I'm rooting for you!

I'm so in awe of your speed, CrystalMarie! I definitely trained for more than 3 weeks for my first half, but my average over the entire 12 week cycle was 15 mpw (jumping to 19 over the last 6 weeks of training.) I finished in 1:57 and felt great. In fact, looking back Im sure i could have pushed the speed a bit and been fine, but since it was my first time I was just hoping to break 2 hours.

Right now I'm 13w2d and hoping that my energy returns soon. I'm also planning to make up for lost training over the next month. I cant wait to see how you do during your half! You are a speed demon, mama! I think I'm going to go in with a safe finish time of around 2:45 (secretly hoping to get closer to 2:20, or slightly below, but that will be quite the stretch, I think.)

You ladies are awesome!  I ran a half last November.  It was my first ever.  I finished in 2:10 and I was pleased w/ that.  I cannot even begin to imagine running one now while pregnant.  I will run a pregnant half marathon vicariously!

I hope to work in 3 miles today after work.  That will nudge me to 482.  Its already Dec 18 - this is getting close!

Nice work Spotty!

I was able to squeeze a quick little 1.5 miler in today during lunch. There was snow on the ground and the sun was shinning. It was glorious!

2.25 miles this morning. I'm on track to hit my mini-goal of 20 miles for December! I set my goal super low because I was tired of not meeting it for the last couple months with my MS and exhaustion. I'm secretly hoping for closer to 35-40 miles this month but we'll see. I was off to a pretty slow start this month  and my calves are already warning me that I'm pushing the envelope, good thing tomorrow is a rest day! Hope you mama's are doing well!

I've got 9 planned for tonight but I'm a little worried about it because my right hip/glute has been acting up and I don't want to injure myself within weeks of the race. I usually try to shoot for a long run that comprises no more than 35% of my weekly mileage, but that would mean that I should hit 26 miles this week. I will be closer to 22 miles, which is already a jump in mileage from recent weeks. Two weeks ago I did 17, but last week I only got in 11 for the week, with no long run. I'm not really sure the best way to proceed--try to get my long runs in despite lower weekly average, or focus on getting more miles in over the whole week while keeping my long runs to 30% of weekly mileage.

Welp, I ended up doing 10.11 miles at an average 12 minute mile pace, and my hip felt great! So I'm feeling much better about the upcoming half marathon. I think I'll do 11 for my next long run, then a shorter 8 during the taper week before the race. And it's looking like I'll be on track to finish around 2:30 to 2:40.

Awesome Kitteh,
That's no small feat, I'm really glad your hip held up so well. If it were me, I'd try hard to get those long runs even on low milage weeks because I know that's where I'm lacking. My endurance isn't too solid yet so building that is my focus. I can do shortys all week long, it's the 10+ milers that I'm not used to right now.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks CrystalMarie, I'm pretty pleased with how well it went and how good I felt the next day. I thought I'd be dead on my feet, but I wasnt really even sore! So I did 2 slow recovery miles yesterday and another slow 3 today. I was starting to feel like "Tashia, the pregnant lady" and now Im getting back to being Tashia, the runner who happens to be pregnant. It feels great.

4.25 miles yestereday, 45 minutes of yoga today. Today was a lazy day. :)

45 minutes of yoga doesn't sound like a lazy day to me, CrystalMarie! Good work. Do you have a dvd or go to a class?

As for me, I procrastinated too long yesterday and it started raining and I wimped out on my planned 4 miles. So to make up for it I did 10.25 miles today. I was actually hoping to do 11 but the screen on my Garmin is still on the fritz and I lost track of the auto-lap mile beeps.
The view for todays run was amazing.

Way to work it you guys!

I am visiting family for Christmas and worried I'd lose 5 days toward my 500 miles goal.  But my husband said "Pack your running gear and I'll get out there w/ you!"  Deal!  We shook on it.  LOL.  We just got back from a 2.5 miles outing.  Now I am at 492.5 - at this stage even half miles matter. ;-)

Merry Christmas Eve!

My sister-in-law used to demonstrate yoga, so we did an informal class. It was really nice. It was like having a personal trainer around to tell me when my poses were off. Today I got in a quick 2.25 mile run.

Nice work mama's. Kitteh, that view is beautiful! All I'm seeing these days is the freezing rain and snow. That looks wonderful!

Spotty! What a great husband you have, you're so close to your goal! Keep it up. You've got six days left!

CrystalMarie--How great to have what was essentially a personal trainer for your yoga session!

Spotty--What a great, supportive husband! How did it go, did you get good use of your running gear on vacation? You still have 4 days left! Go Go Go!

SweetHuck, HolidayMama, Jaxxy--how have you mamas been doing? I hope that you have been feeling some second-trimester relief from symptoms and have been able to keep getting out there and staying active!

I'm hoping to get out for 4 today. I did 5 on Wednesday, which put me at 17 for the week. If I get in today's 4 and 2 tomorrow I'll have an all-time pregnancy high of 23 miles for the week! But I still have 6 miles to go before I get there, so I'm not celebrating that milestone yet.

I'd like to advise all of you ... never go out for a 4 mile run on a full bladder while pregnant!  LOL - oh the torture!  I didn't realize I had to pee when I left the house but by mile 2 I so had to peeeeee!  My lesson learned, always pee just before a run, no matter what!

I only managed to work in one run while visiting w/ family for Christmas.  Today I ran 4 miles.  That leaves me w/ 3.5 miles left!  Tomorrow is supposed to be a rain/snow mix all day, so I guess Saturday is out.  That leaves Sunday and Monday ...

You can do it Spotty! I'm sending good-weather vibes your way!!

As for the peeing thing, I have to stop to pee on any run over 3 miles. I carry a 22oz hand held on every single run--no matter how short--and sip on it frequently, so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. On my most recent long run I stopped 4 times to pee! It's definitely a different running experience than I'm used to.
