Tuality Hospital Oregon

Thread Starter

I was wondering if anyone's delivered at Tuality before?

I'm trying to work out if paying out of pocket (I don't think my insurance covers midwives) for a midwife would be about the same as delivering at Tuality.

Has anyone delivered there before that can give me a rough break down of the hospital/ob costs?

Thanks!

I would recommend calling the hospital directly and asking for a breakdown of the costs. Make sure to ask about costs for both mom and baby, since once the baby is born, they charge you for them as another patient.

I had my son at Tuality. Not sure about costs, as it was covered by insurance. I CAN tell you though, if you are at all interested in a natural birth, it is not the place! They do not have any alternatives to delivering in a lithotomy position.

Hmm, sorry this doesn't answer your question...

Don't know about costs either, but I took thier tour last year and the guide-lady basically said their low CS rate is "due to a large hispanic population". And that they have the highest number of calls into CPS of any hospital in the area.  then asked a nurse about cervical checking and was told not to worry they start those at 35 weeks and I'd be used to it by the time I was in labor.  Yikes.  I would go anywhere else, pretty much.

My insurance does not cover midwives, but, it does cover about half of the costs after a certain dollar amount.  So the $3600 Andaluz fee ended up being around $2100 (paid early, etc), and since we used an FSA card it ends up being around $1700 after taxes, or $150 ish a month.  We ened up deciding it was a fair trade for my future health, and had DD#2 just recently.  So glad we skipped the OB practice: I was 4 cm for a whole week, wouldn't have made it to a normal birth Friday if I'd been with an OB since technically 3 cm is "in labor."  anyway, just adding my 2 cents....
