I'm not evil if I don't give DS his advent calendar, am I??

Before going paleo I bought DS a Kinderegg advent calendar. He's not strictly paleo, but should I not give him sugary junk or should I allow the tradition to continue and pick my battles??

I'm working on making another non-food-related advent calendar out of suspended wrapped TP rolls with little festive activity suggestions written on them (take a walk and look at lights, bring a friend some hot cider, listen to carols, put up the tree, etc.)

To chocolate or not to chocolate....that is the question...

I would chocolate.  Especially Kinder surprise chocolate!  We are mostly paleo in our house although we are more lax with our children (although our son naturally gravitates towards paleo). Our daughter has a kinder Advent calendar, and we'll almost certainly decorate Christmas cookies.  Its part of the season.

I think I've decided to buy a dollar store advent calendar, open the bottom, toss the chocolates and re-fill with paleo-friendly chocolate (coconut oil, cocoa, and honey).

We're still pretty new to paleo, so I don't feel right encouraging what I'm sure is already a wild yo-yo for DS with mostly paleo foods at home then some school-supplied non-paleo snacks thrown in. I'd like to help him out of his sugar cravings not contribute to them.

With that being said, I'm still going to look for holiday baking we can do, and I won't hold him back out of the house at family/social get togethers.

We have certain traditions that are very much non-paleo but they are important to us so they stay around. I say go for it if it's special to you.
