what do YOU want for Christmas?

Thread Starter

We have all these gift posts but I didn't see one about what us momma's are swooning over : )

I love the Nikki Mcclure calendars so I hope for one for 2013

(he above which is so so so beautiful! It's a long shot (it's expensive, my DH probably forgot I mentioned it, etc)

A pair of wool lined slippers

Some books on homemaking and animal husbandry

And that's really it! I so have everything I want -- oh maybe a hand drill! (non electric) in sea foam green

I try really hard to not think about what I want at this time of year because then I develop an attachment to the idea of getting those things and it is too depressing to never receive any of them...

Books or CDs.

Tickets to see Shen Yun in January.

I don't really have anything else on my wish list this year. I'll probably get a gift card for some ebooks, which is always great. There really isn't very much that I want out of life that I don't already have, though.

*ahem* I have a billion things I want.

-A composting system... of any kind. Made of pallets, whatever. We currently have a heap, and I don't imagine I'll ever obtain usable compost from it: plus, it looks nasty.

-A stand mixer (ie. Kitchen Aid), or at least a decent pair of hand-held beaters

-One of those gizmos for horizontally slicing cakes... I can never get the layers even

-A wheelbarrow

-Lavender plants

-Anything gourmet-foody (DH usually fills my stocking with these - vanilla beans, fancy mustard etc)

-Paint to finish painting the hallway

-An assurance from DH that he will help finish painting the hallway

-Books - interesting non-fiction about birth, historical midwifery, historical gardening/botany, history in general, architecture, conspiracy theories, art, fashion/costume throughout history, vintage hairstyles, pattern drafting, biblical archaeology, intersexuality, ancient jewellery, or any of the other hundred things I'm interested in at the moment

-Cake stands - I have two, and I love 'em. I'm thinking of starting a collection

-Anything related to fancy food. Pretty cupcake liners, fancy cachous, gel icing colour, mini heart-shaped tins... I love all that stuff.

Also, I've made the rash decision to cut about two feet off my hair and go vintage, so I want (and have requested):

-Caruso steam rollers

-rat-tail comb

-vented brush

-round brush

-pincurl clips

-setting lotion and hairspray, as chemical-free and hippie as possible (I found one site with promising raw vegan stuff)

-a thin leather headband

-flower clips to pin in my hair

I know DH is getting the rollers; not sure about the rest. I won't cut my hair until I've got a decent supply of stuff to style it with, though, and he's keen for me to cut it (it's been approximately hip-length in the 10 years he's known me)... so hopefully he'll get his act together! As I told him, I have to buy it anyway, so he can either get it for me as a present or he can get me other presents and I'll buy the hair stuff off my own bat. :p I'm fine either way, really... :)

For the record, I'm not expecting to get most of the stuff on the list. But one can dream. :p I'm ridiculously easy to buy for, thanks to the food thing - anything to do with eating or cooking and I'm a happy bunny. As opposed to certain other family members, one of whom had the gall to be born on December 20... She's impossible to buy for. I found two half-decent gifts for her this year and am exceptionally smug about it.

ETA: Just checked the Christmas list I gave DH. Apparently I also want a floor lamp, a bedside lamp, gift vouchers for the fabric store, and candles. Gosh, I'm greedy.

need badly - a new good quality chef's knife. i work trade cook a lot and cook at home from scratch too. my old knives are too dull and old. the sharpner is not keeping the sharpness for long. its causing golfers elbow and my right arm just constantly hurts. at home i have resorted to using my mandolin and making soups so i dont have to chip so much. yet now i have THREE spaghetti squashes waiting for me to chop and use. there are so many other priorities that the knife will have to wait a long while.

as a fun item i'd to get me a proper writing ink pen. i love fountain ink pens. and some art supplies. trying here to figure out an easel with pvc so it wont be so heavy.

I want to be able to get much needed dental work (non cosmetic.)

I want my utility bills to be completely paid.

I want a down comforter.

i share the want for dental work for myself. one of these days thing will line up and i'll be able to get it. i want for us to be able to be in our own home or apartment, currently living with inlaws-which was supposed to allow us to save up $ to get a decent place to live, but this has been 3 yrs now and we have even fewer financial resources now than when we moved in here. lastly i want to be able to have a "medicine cabinet" with a few different natural remedies, colloidal siver, gse, elderberry syrup, etc. i keep reading about all these wonderful things, but we aren't yet able to use them.

I am asking for Goodwill gift cards. I like getting more bang for the buck, and I like getting to pick out my own stuff. Win-win. biggrinbounce.gif

There are a lot of thing on my long term want list (thanks a lot Pinterest...) but the top three things for me are a nice new pair of earrings, an omellete pan and a large (6+ quarts) enameled cast iron dutch oven/stockpot.

There's kind of a lot of stuff I want, but mostly it is stuff that I/we need/will have to get eventually.

For DF to have enough time off of work to get some dental work done. He's *so* miserable, and there's not much I/we/he can do until he has at least one day off work.

A set of knives. Right now, the only knife I have is a chef's knife we got from Wal-Mart for $1.99.

A crock-pot

A bed (We haven't had one in almost 3 years. I forget what it's like, but *has* to be more comfortable than the couch/floor.)

Chairs for the dining room table

A stock pot

Some more cooking utensils (wooden spoons, whisk, baster, serving utensils, vegetable peeler, etc)

Some kind of mixer (Would *love* a stand up, but would even be happy with a handheld)

Enough coffee mugs to entertain, maybe 2 or 3 more

A roasting pan

A cake pan

Cast iron two-burner griddle/grill

A mandolin

One of those food chopper things, with the jar at the bottom, where you just push the handle down and dices/chops things.

gosh i need urgent dental work done too. if i cant get this molar filled within the next few weeks i'll have to have it pulled. :( still cant come up with $$$s for the molar work and i've been trying for the past 3 months.

ah bmcneal i've spent more time as a mom sleeping on the floor instead of a bed. now we have a bed because a friend just passed on his dd's bunk bed to us.  i have had previous offers of beds but they've been too soft and painful on my back.

For Christmas I want to fix whatever is making all those horrible noises in my beloved car.

And a day with a clothing consultant. I have so few clothes and shoes. I hate buying clothes for myself, I'm such a poor decision maker.  For winter I have two pairs of shoes.  Three if I count the uncomfortable, out of date dress boots that I avoid wearing.  I have 2 pairs of jeans and two yoga pants. That's it for cold weather.

I want someone to tell me which 2 or 3 pairs of shoes I want, and from there we'll build 2 or 3 outfits.

I posted elsewhere that I wanted a new power cord for my laptop, but looking over this thread I realize that I also want a new down comforter and pillows. A Vitamix would be nice too.

Hmmm, a wood carving set, a dremel, and a scroll saw. I really want to get in to making wooden toys for DS.  DH and I are only doing stockings for each other though, so I think I probably won't get any of those things! It's okay, I can wait. tea6.gif

I want a firefighter calendar, a giftcard to Starbucks, and a Victoria Secret giftcard (for bras not lingerie).

Pie in the sky-not happening: Blendtec blender

Real life:

New baking sheets

A glass pitcher (my old one broke this year)

Flannel sheets for our bed

A comfy, warm cardigan

I remember one year growing up my mom wanted new towels for Christmas.  I thought it was so weird at the time and she should just go get herself some towels.  I totally understand being excited about that sort of thing now.

I buy all my and my dc clothes at the consignment stores or goodwill. And I'm just fine with not having new clothes. But shoes is something I kind of like new, so they mold to my feet... I would love a pair of knee high leather fashion boots. All the ones I like are over $200. YIKES>
