It was only 3.6 miles but it felt great. 

Now I am going to do something totally unlike me...and go to the mall with my mom and daughter to meander around while dh takes ds to the funplex arcade (too much overstimulation for me).

RP is now allowed to walk, so we've been walking on alternate nights.  It's better than nothing.  A groupon came around for something 4 miles from here for 5:30 am boot camp.  I'm tempted, but these caffeine-free eyes droop at the thought.
 

My MIL left this morning.  My ears are still ringing. 

Gaye and Lisa-- I'm glad you arrived at your destinations safely.  It was pretty treacherous around here that day as well.  My in-laws insisted on leaving that day anyways instead of staying an extra day.  Instead, they made it 60 miles and stopped in a hotel for the night.

Real - OMG! what must you have done in your last life to bring on all these travel horrors in this one?  That's all laugh or cry stuff!  I hope the return home makes up for it.

RR: Yesterday boxing was intense and then I did a bunch more dancing until I couldn't really move my arms anymore and I started tripping over myself.  I have a dance class in an hour or so.  I really want to go even though i'm pretty tired.  I think it will be a nice time to get centered.

NRR: Just super psyched for Lofty's arrival tomorrow, and the forecast calls for dry weather!!! I think today is about the first day in months that we haven't had at least some pouring rain.  I would be so excited if it was actually sunny for Lofty and fam.  A girl can dream!

PLADY tomorrow! So freaking excited. I don't even know how many years it's been. Funny thing is, it just feels so normal, like it's just part of my regular life and we'll pick up where we left off.

After 7 days of 12 people in one house I think everyone's on trying not to blow their nice-ness. Though it has been fun. And good.

Real - I hope you have finally had a decent night's sleep!

Not much sleep around here the last few nights. The girls have been having friends over for sleepovers and while it brings a wonderful energy into our house and it is great having lots of kids around it means not a lot of sleep for me. I have had a massive headache for three days now and hope today will be the end of it. 

Lots of knitting going on in shanti-land - a couple of patterns written that I hope will highlight my hand dyed yarns for this new shop. Is anyone interested in doing some test knitting at some point? I don't have yarn to include with the pattern yet but I will soon, I hope. I meet with the store owner this afternoon and I am looking forward to that. If the new shop has space and facilities for dyeing and I can move that whole process out of my kitchen/dining room that will be amazing. A couple of other shops have asked about carrying my yarns so I will see what her expectations are and make a plan from there. The wage for working in the shop isn't that great - which is fine because it is a new store and it is still retail after all - but having the freedom to sell my yarn and make some kits to sell will make this job more liveable for me. It is part time and I can continue my studies when I am not working.

I can't remember - do we have any graphic designer Dingoes? I am trying to design a label and I can't quite figure out how to get my computer to do what I want. It is simple - just brand name and my location, ideally in white lettering on a coloured background with a simple logo - as I will print off individual fibre content/yardage/guage suggestions on stick-on labels for each weight of yarn. I figure it will be better in the long run to have one label that I can adapt rather than having to print off a different card-stock type label for each and every kind of yarn.

Time to wake and feed the teenagers. Watch my fridge empty!

I am a slug. Ugh. I have wimped out entirely on running the past two days. In my defense, it has been snowy and not great conditions for running (especially since I forgot my yaktrax). Blech. On the bright side, I haven't been a total pig eating-wise, so maybe it won't be too terrible. There is, of course, the small matter of that 5k I'm running on NYE, but it's *just* a 5k, right?

NRR- We seem to have slowly started the annual post-Christmas decluttering and house re-organization. The tree still needs to come down, but the living room furniture has already been rearranged and the garage partly cleaned.

MelW - we are also in the midst of the post-Christmas clean and purge! Like you the tree is still up, but DH is reorganizing the basement and I'm putting the gifts where they actually belong before vacuuming. All three kids have been out sledding on the paltry 2 inches of snow we got two days ago and having a blast!

RR - Ran and walked for 40 minutes on Friday while DS was at swim practice. I still have really annoying numbness on the top of my foot. Hopefully it's just a transient effect of the anesthesia two weeks ago. I see the pain management specialist again on Thursday for a followup, so I hope she will have some ideas.

NRR - we have another big hike planned for tomorrow, and it's supposed to snow too! After the hike, we'll go out to dinner. Looking forward to New Year's Eve day.

Seriously though, I am so happy you ladies got to see each other again. So awesome. You are both just the loveliest, and the two of you in a room must be loveliness overload for real. 

JayGee, clean, purge, and join me for the big January W30! Still with the numbness? I would be beyond frustrated at this point. You are handling the challenge with grace.

Geo, the end of your IL visit did make me giggle. I hope all is well that ends well.

And Real, there just aren't words. Bless you, mama. With patience. Which we already know must be true. Really though, my 2013 wish for you is some delicious, deep, rejuvenating sleep. On a regular basis.

This W30 psychology is just beyond me. I false-started for what, months? And then, boom. The day just came when it took, and I'm in. Turkish delights be damned. Cupboard full of chocolates can suck it. If dh wants to take us out for weekend lunch, it better be the awesome Lebanese place that gives us a huge plate of arugula and veggies and baba ghanoush before the mixed grill comes out. Or the churrascaria place, if he wants to be fancy.  Sugar can kiss my ass. I want my energy back. I'd been cutting myself way too much slack and pretending "good" sugar (like piles of dates and oranges, and I mean piles) would have no negative effects on me. I'm remembering how hard and at the same time simple it is to just stay away from it for a while and recalibrate again. I can do this.

RR: I have been really, really happily getting out for walks, rides and workouts at the gym. I am, however, feeling so pent-up and trapped with the kids in the apartment that I can't bring myself to roll out the mat in my bedroom. I do yoga when I go to the gym, but my body wants more. So I do need to find a way to get over that. Not sure what the answer should be. Not there yet.

NRR: Lofty, my highest recommendation to The 90-Day Novel by Al Watts. It could just be that I am finally in the right head space, or it could be that this is the right message at the right time. But for the first time, I don't care whether I'm writing well or poorly, as long as I am writing. Just sayin'.

I weighed myself this morning for our biggest loser contest, and if my mom's scale is to be believed (and is accurate), I'm actually down a pound from last week. Which just proves to me that weight loss is, for me at least, far more about what I eat (or don't) and less about my exercise. Since I haven't worked out in two weeks now . My eating hasn't been fabulous while I've been here, but it's been alright. With a huge assist from invisalign, but I think I've finally realized that I don't *have* to finish everything in front of me. It's ok to leave things on the plate, especially if they don't taste that great anyway. This has been a hard realization for my midwestern-raised-not-to-waste-anything self.

So, as this year ends and the new year begins, I am purposely not making any big goals. I would like to figure out how to work full-time and still maintain a training schedule, but beyond that...I just want to try to manage my life without letting too many things fall by the wayside. If I decide to run NYC, I would like to be able to do a better job of training for it than I did this year. That's about it, really.

I'm running a midnight (actually 11:45) 5k tonight, which should be interesting. I'm trying to decide whether to go to dinner and a movie with my sister, BIL, and their friends beforehand. They're going to a 6:40 show and dinner at 10...which is cutting it a bit close to get to the race, even if eating a full meal that close to a race isn't a bad idea. Hmm...

Jo - your post resonated with me in a huge way. First, I am having a sugar-be-damned day after returning from a week w/ the in-laws where all my sugar crutches (aka choc-chip muffins: "super healthy": garbanzo-bean and sprouted brown rice flours, ground flax, extra dark choc. chips, no sugar except for the chips) were gone. I eat 2 muffins fro breakfast every day. I think I crave the sugar/caffeine high, and the "dessert in the morning" thing really eliminates the craving for sweets for the rest of the day. BUT, after a week off and then the past two days back on, I feel how bad they make me feel. The sugar crash is ugly, and even the sugar high is a little ugly too. So I'm feeling the whole health-sugar-is-still-sugar thing.

Then there's the generally good head-space you seem to be in and it reminds me of your medications. I dont mean that your mood is all medication related, obviously you have had huge life changes for the better this year, but it gives me pause, especially, as you know, I have been mulling the possible role of some medications for my various problems. Which reminds me, I need to make some phone calls today.

I know this is only month two but I think I may very well be seeing some perimenopausal symptoms, and its sad in several ways.

Anyway, the New Year is just in time

Sparkle ~ I am awaiting Treasure Mapping with much excitement this year!  I have a 2013 workbook I am using right now to plan and goal set for the time being.  Nothing is as fun as Treasure Mapping though.

I haven't been on the forums since Christmas, and I just wanted to let you all know how exciting of a Christmas morning we had!!!  Tripod came home after breakfast and gift opening.  He was gone 8.5 days, and he was found within a mile of our house on the road walking toward our house.  Our neighbor picked him up and brought him back.  I'm still amazed!!! =)
