I had my NT ultrasound on Friday at 12w1d (baby measured just one day ahead, so I'll just stick with the original EDD).

Here are a few pictures of my cutie. There seems to be quite a prominent nub in some of the shots - what do you think?

I don't think this is the right angle, but I can't help but think this nub is totally a penis! Live time, especially, it was just so there! Is that what all nubs are like? This baby moves SO much...it kept kicking one leg in and out, which is what this shot is of - looking up towards bottom of baby - looked like a little kick boxer (or ballerina!)

Oooh, I know nothing about ultrasounds so it's not really an educated guess but I'm thinking your right on the boy feelings. My guess is boy!

Well, in my very unprofessional opinion .... I would say GIRL.  I say this because the NUB is running parallel with the spine in one picture and in the other the spine is curved up a bit AND the NUB is still straight.  If the baby were a boy there would be a slight UP angle of the NUB and to top it off the NUB looks semi flat at the end also indicating girl baby!!! 

I've looked at probably thousands of confirmed gender NUB photos, ones to guess from and then after confirmation.  Also for our last little guy (that passed at 18w gestation) the NUB was sticking straight up.  Basically both genders have the nub now but girls run parallel with the spine and the boys stick up/out at least to a 45 degree angle.

HTH and again my guess is GIRL based on these photos :)

Thanks, Tenk! I was excited to see what you'd guess. I'll update you after our gender reveal on the 27th. :) I figured it'd be tough to tell because of the funny angle on the spine...what is up with that, anyhow? Baby was doing a lot of arching - was the shot taken just as baby was coming out of an arch or something?

Actually probably not.  At this stage in pregnancy they have that arch most of them time because their bodies haven't straightened completely out yet.  So the fact that the arch is there and the nub is still parallel with it is a GREAT indication of a girl ... not the opposite.  I would not guess boy at all based on these photos and would be surprised if you don't hear GIRL at your big ultrasound later :)

Yeah, based on the fact that nub and spine look parallel, I would say GIRL too. Those are some pretty clear shots, too! Exciting. Can't wait to hear what they say at your 20 week scan.

Okay - girl would be crazy exciting. The whole family will be with us at the gender reveal in a few weeks (parents and our sons). There are NO girls in the family for years now. All grandparents have 4 grandsons. I know it doesn't really matter, but it's just so much fun to anticipate!

It's strange, though - I feel like I'm bonding with a boy. I'll feel bad in a way if it's a girl - like my mama intuition is broken or something? I don't want to give baby a complex! :P

Has anyone ever taken one of those urine gender prediction tests that you can get over the counter?  I saw it while I was at Walgreen's and was shocked because I didn't think that there was an OTC gender prediction test.  It was $40- which seems like a lot for something that may not be accurate.  The website for the product said that it had 90% accuracy rate....  I'm skeptical.

From what I have heard about it, it CAN be pretty accurate - ha! I haven't looked into it myself, and I didn't try it, but I heard from someone who did it for fun (an MD), and she said that the test looks for testosterone in your urine....so if it does pick up testosterone you can be pretty sure you are having a boy, but if it doesn't pick up the testosterone, it can't guarantee that you are having a girl...more accurate for the "boy" result than for the "girl" result.  I have no idea how true it is.  I also think it was only 20 bucks a little over 2 years ago when I was pregnant before...which I concluded was too  much to spend for something like that....especially when we are so close to the growth scan anyway.  If you are going to have one, that is.  I figured it would just drive me nuts.  Speculating about old wives tales is fun for me because it's non committal, but taking a test like this, and then knowing that it might not be right is too much for me

I did one when I was pregnant with L, and it said she was a boy .... she's a girl :)  also, I followed the directions to a T and the stupid thing exploded, shot chemicals and urine into the air and landed on my kitchen table stripping all stain from it.  Although the company was very helpful and paid someone local to me well over $600 to have my table refinished it was still a pain in the @$$ to go through that and then clean my own pee off the kitchen table   YUCK!!!!

Ha, ha, I guess there really is no real way to "know" besides genetic testing! That is really crappy that happened! ....But like most things that can s*ck in the moment, it's really funny in retrospect

I had my NT ultrasound this morning and the tech said that she couldn't take a guess at the gender, baby wasn't in the best position to tell and she didn't want to guess wrong.  The heart rate was 157 and he/she was rather squirmy- I couldn't believe it!!  My acne has been getting worse.  I've been slathering my stinky zit ointment on my face (some type of homeopathic concoction with sulfur) and I'll still wake up with more break outs.  (a girl?)  ;)

I just mentioned in another thread that we had our NT scan today as well.  Our bub was rockin' and rollin'!!  The tech had a hard time getting the images she needed.  She said the movement is great but she was getting frustrated w/ how much this little bub was workin' it.  Our HR was 155.  As for the acne, my skin was terrible prior to conception when I was in my cycles.  Now just shy of 12 weeks in my skin is showing some improvement.  Does acne provide any indication of baby sex?

I don't think acne can be a good predictor, as mama's skin type and diet will affect that a lot!

Unless there's an awesomely obvious crotch shot taken past 15 weeks, I'm convinced the only way to know for sure is at birth! It tests my patience, for sure

The acne for me started during pregnancy. I had "some" breakouts prior, but also used Retin-A for general "anti-aging" purposes, so stopping that could be affecting my skin. I thought that maybe the acne could be indicative of extra estrogen circulating from a baby girl. I'll just have to wait..... *sigh*

I'm gonna say GIRL based on that tiny nub.  I'm not 100% sure though.  If that's the nub I'm seeing then it's GIRL angel but it's small ... the thing is around 14 weeks the nub starts to get smaller for girls so GIRL :)

That fits with our timing, because we missed the day of ovulation and the day before (and possibly even the day before THAT if fertility friend is correct.) We are kind of hoping for a boy, but already have a girl's name picked out and a bunch of hand-me-down clothes from Ela so we'd be set! If it's a boy we might be done after this one, but if it's a girl we just might go for #3 in 3-5 years. Heading back for an anatomy scan in 7 weeks, so we'll see!
