Second Trimester Symptoms Thread - Page 2

One of my more interesting symptoms lately has been starting to lactate again.  It was my 2 year old daughter's idea to try it out, and surprisingly there was milk already.  Not much but enough to hold my daughter's attention for awhile. Has anyone else started to lactate? I definitely don't remember this from last time.

I continued to make a tiny amount through my pregnancy last time but not much.  DD1 was still nursing though.  This time I'm not nursing and I can't squeeze anything out- up until I got pregnant I could still get droplets.  Oh she was so happy when my milk came in and it sure was nice to have a toddler to help with engorgement.

Can I claim being a bottomless pit as a symptom?  I just ate 4 or 5 bowls (I lost count) of chicken and vegetable soup for dinner, tucked the kids in and am starting a grilled cheese sandwich.

Now I'm craving grilled cheese!  It seems like anything I hear or think of sounds good.  Just read a friend's post on FB about this apple pie I love and instantly wanted it.  I'm very suggestable.  lol.

SP, I think I'm pretty dry, much to my DSs dismay.  I think he got a few drips this morning but that's about it.  He's still nursing.  I thought maybe we  were done a few days ago as he had a bad cold and hadn't nursed for about 3 days in a row as he was too congested.  Now that his cold has cleared up he wants his mommy moot again.

I haven't had any lactation that I've noticed yet, but yeah during DD's pregnancy I would find dried dots of milk on my nipples or bras occasionally.

What do braxton hicks feel like?

For me, I barely feel them, just a bit of tightness/discomfort or I just start getting irritated at everything and then I feel my stomach and realize my uterus is rock solid. For me it is much more mild that period cramps, but it is similar in feeling, just much lower on the pain scale.

I think that is what I have then! Does it sometimes go into your back as well? I called my doctor today because I was worried about it--such a different feeling than I have been having...they assured me that everything is normal. Thanks for getting back to me!

Yeah a bit in the back at times too for me and for others from what I've seen. Drinking water and lieing down can help alleviate them and I think if you are having more than 4 an hour, you are supposed to call your doctor, but you could check with yours on that. Usually I just have one that lasts for several minutes and then nothing for a few days, so I don't worry about those.

With my dd, i started leaking at about 12 weeks. She's still nursing and says there's milk in there but I can't express any. The braxton hicks contractions I feel make my uterus go tight and "feel weird" lol, don't know how to describe it, just like something feels strange. I get lower back pain occasionally, but my main complaint is pelvic bone pain- since about 6-8 weeks... that and that out of breath feeling when you didn't do anything... and when you fold two loads of laundry, sweep the kitchen and vacuum the house! Hubby loves the nesting and I'm still trying to figure how this is fun for me!

None really!  No Braxton-Hicks, not feeling a lot of consistent movement or kicking - just some twitches now and again.  If I hadn't been pregnant before, I wouldn't even know I was feeling movement.  Can still sleep comfortably on both back and stomach.  (When are you supposed to stop sleeping on your back again?  And why?)  I'm bigger, definitely showing, but I've had a strange feeling the past few days that something might be wrong.  No signs, no bleeding, no cramping - just a weird feeling that the baby isn't growing anymore.  Not sure.  We are scheduled for our ONE ultrasound that I've agreed to in about ten days, so I will see what's up then!

I have the itchy boob / belly syndrome as well.  I'm sure it's aggravated by the fact that the weather has been changing and it's super dry here.  I always have drier skin in the winter anyway.

I feel like I've been through the ringer, compared to my last pregnancy. I'm still exhausted, itchy tummy (never did with DS), Braxton Hicks here and there, nauseous from time to time (walked out of a fancy restaurant just two days ago cause I got sick before we even ordered!). Headaches seem to be the new symptom, peeing constantly is not as bad as first tri but I feel like my uterus is pinching it off so I can't fully relieve myself until I wipe and stand up and then all of a sudden I have to go again wink1.gif Heartburn! I didn't have any with DS until the last two weeks or so of his pregnancy. I haven't gained any weight (still down at least 5 pounds) but my belly is already huge. I have trouble getting up, starting to roll already. Irritability has kicked in and I tear up during commercials and weird TV shows. I eat because I have to, not for pleasure. I still haven't craved anything and I really haven't enjoyed a meal in months.

Thanks for creating a place to vent without guilt!! smile.gif I feel better already!

Here too - joint pain (had 3rd tri and for years afterward with DS), dizziness (it's been BAD the past week), RLP, and exhaustion and poor sleep.

The dizziness worries me, frankly.  MW says it's fairly normal at around 14-16 weeks to feel that way due to increased blood volume and therefore lower BP.  I took mine yesterday, 118/68.  Normal for me is 135/75, so yeah, I guess that's maybe why I'm feeling light-headed and dizzy?  I just don't remember experiencing this with DS so it makes me uneasy.  MW suggested not bending over to pick things up, etc. but I mean I just bend over to look at something on my desk or to brush my teeth and it gets worse.  :/

RLP has begun for me the last several days.  Yesterday in particular when I'd been standing and/or doing housework most of the day.  It was odd though that I felt it as a tightness across the front of my belly too, low down over my pubic bone but all the way across my stomach.  I do NOT remember that with DS.  But then, so far I haven't felt like someone is jamming a picjet fense post up my vagina so that's a good thing!  With DS that pain would be so bad I'd stop in my tracks and bend over.  Not nearly so bad this time!

OMG how did I miss this thread!?

I will go back and read now,  :-)

My symptoms so far for this trimester are:

1) Annoyingly big boobs. I cannot wear the same bras I was wearing about 2 weeks ago. I put on a nursing bra from my previous nursing days and it is pretty snug. And I hate buying bras...

2) That SPD thing! It attacks at random but OWIE!

3) Sore hips but only after walking a lot.

4) Nighttime bloat.

5) And here's one that I feel like I should be able to control but I really can't...pregnancy PMS! It hit about a week ago and man do I get irritated over stupid things. At least I had with DD and have learned to just keep my mouth shut and that it will pass once baby is out.

6) I also have the nipple thing but it feels like they have those alligator clamps or jumper cable clips on them.

I can squeeze some out and I haven't nursed in almost 20 months!

Mmmm grilled cheese. I had one lastnite but it def did not help with the bloat.

I have had a few BH's but they have actually gone away kind of since a few weeks ago.

Can I claim stupidity as a symptom? I can't recall anything.

New symptom: being a jerk!  I thought I was going to throw a fit in Target yesterday when they told me their registry scanner thingies were broken.  Oops.
