Chicken Pox in vaccinated child

It's possible right?  She was given the first vaccine several months ago at 4 1/2(we are delayed vaccinating) and she was exposed a week or two ago.  The kids who we may have gotten it from got it from their mom who had shingles so it's wild and not from a kid who was vaccinated.  My daughter has had no fever or other symptoms but she woke up yesterday with two spots near her belly button that remain unchanged this morning but now she's got two more on her shoulder/chest and one on her neck.  They are just like little pimples, unremarkable really, except for the fact that I know she was exposed to pox.  I'm thinking she may have it.  That's possible since she didn't have the booster yet and because they can still get pox once fully vaccinated right?  Also, my older two are 8 and 12 and they received only the first varicella as well so they are at risk for getting it I'm guessing.  I'm calling the pediatrician to confirm but wanted other opinions here too since I know lots of parents here are knowledgeable about this subject.

Thanks so much!

It's very possible. I can't cut and paste, but there's a Huffington Post article about the recent outbreak of wild CP in Vigo County, IN, in which 86% were fully vaccinated. So we may have one more weak vaccine in circulation. Let us know what you find out from your ped.

Yes , a vaccinated child can have full blown version of an illness because vaccines are not 100% effective or a child might have  a milder version.

My younger son was not vaccinated for CP and got ill, my older vaccinated child got super mild version. He jsut has 2 spots and did not even feel ill,

The majority of people in an outbreak doesn't mean the vaccine is weak. It's just math. Since the overwhelming majority of people are vaccinated, of course the majority in an outbreak will be.

Sounds like a very real possibility it's an extremely old case.

Very possible. My daughter broke out hours after it. I'm 25 and had the shot, a mild case at 8 years old, and now have them again. Luckily my daughters hasn't had them. And I've had them for over 7 days now.
