Measuring 2 1/2 weeks behind.

Good Morning,

According to my LMP and my positive HPT I was led to believe I am 9 weeks pregnant. I was having some brown spotting yesterday and the OB had me go in to get an ultrasound. Based on the ultrasound they said I am more at 6 1/2 weeks rather than 9 weeks. They did see the heartbeat, but did not tell me the rate or anything. I am just wondering if this is common, or something to be alarmed with.

I would be concerned. I've heard of this happening with impending miscarriage. I hope that isn't the case for you though. 

Be prepared mentally for the possibility.

I'm measuring about one week behind but things looked good on the US. While there is a chance that something may be going on, it may also be a case of late ovulation or a longer cycle. It's not easy but try to stay positive for now. Are you having a follow up? The tech said they may need to do another US for dating since I was only about 6w 3d for this one and that is really early.
