My husband was offered a job at Washington Univ. and it looks like we'll probably be taking it. We'll be coming from Kansas, so it will be a nice easy move :)
I've read several other "moving to St. Louis" posts that answered a lot of my questions, but I still have more and would really appreciate some feedback.
My son will be starting first grade when we move and we'd like him to go to public school. My husband wants to be able to either walk, or take public transport to his job. I was looking into University City...would that be a good neighborhood for us? The schools look good, am I right?
We would like a house with 2 or 3 bedrooms, 1.5 or 2 baths, a fenced yard, and no carpet. We'll be renting and don't want to spend more than 1100 bucks a month. Is that doable in a good neighborhood? If we could walk to ds1's school, and my husband could take the bus or train to work, that would be ideal. Ds2 will be starting preschool as well. What sort of part time preschool options are available in U City?
Are there any other neighborhoods I should be looking at that would fit our criteria?
Thanks for any input and I look forward to getting to know all you St. Louis mamas soon!
