What are your suggestions for someone who wants to practice yoga, but there no instructors nearby? This question might be a little self-serving... sorry. Everyone's covered the ones I wanted to ask. :)

I was wondering that, too. I'm pretty sure I don't want ANYONE to have to look at my toes. :)

Heehee, I want to know what toe reading is, too!

What are your plans this go?

What has your favorite snack been this pregnancy?

DD was born at a free-standing birth center. It was such an amazing experience that we are doing it again! My midwife is super passionate about natural birth and she was so wonderful last time around. I can't imagine birthing with anyone else!!

My favorite snack has been fruit! I can't get enough. Especially pineapple, fresh pears, and strawberries!! YUM.

Stick to basics like prenatal sun salutations. You can find a video on YouTube! Or try Shiva Rea's prenatal yoga DVD- that is a great one for those with little yoga experience and it's pretty safe!! If anything doesn't feel right, don't do it! smile.gif

Toe reading is based on the principles of Reflexology, in which the entire body is reflected on the bottoms of the feet. The toes represent the head and therefore can display aspects of a person's current and past thought patterns, experiences, and perceptions about their life. Using the meridian system from Chinese medicine, each toe represents a different part of life- destiny/life path, relationships, trust, etc. During a session, I go through the toes and "read" what comes through the shape and other characteristics of a person's toes. It's really an interesting kind of work, because it ends up being a lot like life coaching but can get very personal and very in depth in just a short session. I studied it at the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts and there is a great book by KC Miller describing how it works. I took the program as an add on to Reflexology while I was there, and it is one of my favorite sessions to do now!

Also- when you work on feet all the time, and find out how healing it can be for a person, you pretty much lose any "feet are gross" mentality. I often start sessions with a foot bath though, so clients aren't self conscious and because it's relaxing too!

I have Shiva Rea's DVD and I really like it, I had never done yoga before my last pregnancy.

I also like Shiva Rea's DVD, except for the way she pronounces "exhale" (without the "h" sound).  Ex-ALE, Ex-ALE...  Drives DH and me batty!

Toe-reading sounds really interesting! Of course, maybe I think so because my feet love getting attention. smile.gif

My biggest challenge by far has been my health. I had such an easy pregnancy with DD, it's been really frustrating to encounter difficulties this time around.

Ive experienced unexpected joy through the kindness of other people. As we recover from a tough year financially, so many of our friends and family members have reached out to help us. I have shed so many more (happy) tears thanks to the kindness we've received than I ever have over the troubles we have faced.

My favorite guilty pleasure is silly pop music, especially from the 80s and 90s. I love to have dance parties with DD and just be super silly. My second favorite guilt pleasure at the moment is cherry pie. Haha.

My dreams are to find a way to regenerate community in real life for mothers. To support them in enjoying healing session work, yoga, and dance while their children are cared for in a co-op type situation. The bigger picture of that dream is helping women to realize that the always busy super mom image isn't ideal, and to honor their own natural pace and put their health on the map again as a priority. To help women reach out for help, feel supported by each other, and just plain slow down. Kind of a return to our natural way- parenting as a community instead of in isolation. I also want to write a book at some point, but first I need to just get back on track with blogging. And I want to travel.

Veganmomma- i hope you are feeling better, and your contractions have stopped. Glad your MIL is helping. What a relief! I would love to read your blog!
I can relate relate to your dream, what a beautiful dream it is!

I agree what a beautiful dream, and I have to admit 80's music is often played at our house for our dance parties.
