Before I call my midwives in a panic, I wanted to get your perspective on some pretty bad illness last night. they probably can;t see me until afternoon anyway, and if you ladies suggest calling them I most definitely will!
As context - I'm 18+1 and didn't have more than mild nausea in the first tri, so I don't think this was morning sickness.
I think I got food poisoning - I was feeling fine until after eating some pickles (DH started it, not a craving!) - they were commercially bought pickles that DH's uncle sent us. DH ate one and was fine. I ate two and thought they tasted strange but I don't like bread and butter, and they tasted like a combo of dill and B+B.
we went to bed about 60-90 minutes later, and I was definitely feeling sick at that point. about 20 minutes after bed time, the illness began in earnest. I was up every 20-30 minutes vomiting at first - the first couple times were "productive" and after that it was just nasty bitter stomach juice and dry heaves. This went on all night - every time I got comfortable and started to fall asleep, I started heaving again. Probably up every 2 hours or so through the night. I lost count of how many times after 7.
At around 3 am I started getting dizzy and having chills, and tried to drink some water and eat some crackers. at least that gave me something to throw back up, ugh. I started keeping water with some sugar and salt in it down at about 5am, and drank half a glass of it upon crawling out of bed at 8. I had a bit more water in the last 2 hours and haven't vomited since, so I think the worst has passed.
some part of me sees this as the universe preparing me to get up every 2 hours to care for an infant, but the logical part says this one of the worst vomiting spells I have had in my adult life, and with the other I received 2L of fluids IV for dehydration. I also wonder how good it can be for the baby to have all that stomach heaving and go without much in the way of nutrients for 12 hours.
your thoughts are welcome - I'll be here trying some crackers again and sipping warm lemon tea.
(as a funny side note, DH joked that I'm just channeling Kate Middleton, and called me "duchess" when he checked in on me this morning.)

, but I would still call your midwives and see if they think you need to do more than take it easy and try to slowly work nutrition back in and get rehydrated. I don't think you need to worry about your baby for one night of vomitting, fat stores will be used to nourish the baby if needed.
