Introducing myself...

Hi there, I'm Judy!

We were "fired" last week by my MW for questioning her high fees and lack of malpractice insurance. smile.gif

Been wanting to have a UC for a few years, but loved my midwives too much! (Not this one - we recently moved.) We've had 4 uncomplicated homebirths and I'm a certified childbirth educator.

Now my DH and I are very seriously considering UP/UC and I'm so excited about it! Enjoying reading these posts and learning more!

Hi! Nice to "meet" you two!

I'm due in May and getting excited about the whole thing. smile.gif

Was able to connect with a few other UCing moms in my due date board, so that was nice!

Hi Judy! Congrats on being fired lmao! What kind of medical person gets rid of someone for asking questions? Sounds fishy anyways!
I'm due in July and planning to UC at home.

Why do you feel like she needed to carry malpractice insurance?

Hey there! How far along are you?

I have 6 children, first 2 attended by a MW and the rest were UC. My midwife was great. Great enough to let me spread my wings and freebirth when the time came. My husband also had medical training in the army.

I'm thankful to UC - last time for sure they would haved wanted to section me for a complete breach - he turned on his birthday, after my waters broke. That would have even scared a midwife. He was 36 weeks and weighed 3.5 pounds. And he did just fine in a waterbirth. He doubled his weight by six and a half weeks. :D

The scariest breech is one like I had - the fear being prolapse, small baby with head bigger than torso not coming through sufficiently dilated cervix, etc. Yet he was born healthy and ready to grow at home on breastmilk. God chose the time and place. He formed that child in the womb and brought him forth. In our minds there was no fear. So I'm glad a midwife wasn't there sweating it out over me. It would have disrupted the birth process.

Is this your first baby? How exciting! Congratulations. Do you have a lot of natural birth choices in your family or circle of friends, or are you just an outside the box thinker?
