Anyone planning an Unassisted Birth?

We are, and I'd love to connect with anyone else going on the same journey, whether it's your first time or you're experienced!

We're expecting baby #5 towards the end of May.  All 4 big siblings have been born at home with midwives.  We've recently moved, so we no longer have our midwives and feel a great peace about going this one solo.

Hi Judy! I am so far UP-ing and possibly UC-ing. I am taking it more one day at a time. This is pregnancy #4 for me, with 1 full term stillborn born at hospital/induction, one full term living almost 2 year old (hospital/induction), and then I had a really early m/c last May, and now due this coming May. I am 19.5 weeks. This is my first time without an OB and I have never had a midwife. I just had a strong urge to be left alone this pregnancy and I had been looking into UC before getting pregnant with my m/c baby. I actually wouldn't mind delivering in our hospital because they have great staff, etc but if I feel like they will go bonkers when I come in in labor and haven't had official prenatal care since 9 weeks I will just stay at home. I don't really feel like having an IV, or being given antibiotics for any possible GBS, and I don't feel like being in labor and having to force them to not give me those things.

I was induced with my first baby because of finding no heartbeat and I was induced with my second because they/I were jumpy about going too late since they never found a cause of the first stillborn (they highly suspected a cord accident though).

When are you due?

might be having an Unplanned Homebirth, if there is such a thing.

DD's birth went quickly, I only had 5-6 hours of active labor, so the midwives I've spoken to suspect it to be much quicker. So for that reason alone I'm making sure I am prepared.

Other than that, DH might be losing his job come early next year, so we may not have coverage to have a hospital birth.

Since my first DS was born after a 31/2  hr labor and my second took tons of prodromal labor and about 1/2hr to 15 minutes worth of hard labor we are looking at a very fast birth.  We can't afford a homebirth out of pocket this time, my first hb was mainly covered by insurance and my second was paid for out of pocket.  I have an OB this time and am temporarily planning a hospital birth.  But in all truth, the hospital is more than a half an hour away and I don't think I will make it.  So, mentally I am preparing for a UC but I am putting all the pieces in place to try and get a hb covered by insurance because of my previous precipitous births,
