Men's scarf question

Thread Starter

For the record I only know how to knit simple scarves and have made a simple hat and booties before.

Is 8 3/4" too wide for a scarf? And at that width how long would be a good length?

Thanks for your help.

I don't think that's too wide.  I prefer my scarves to be just a bit wide anyway.  Depending on which pattern you are using, the scarf might curl up on itself just a little.

Length would depend on the guy.  Practical, busy, no-nonsense types would want a scarf long enough to tuck in, and not much longer.

I agree with the previous poster, I don't think it's too wide and my husband would prefer a shorter scarf- no nonsense. The length may also depend on how cold it gets where the receiver lives. When it's really cold, I like a longer scarf so I can wrap it around a few times.

Thanks. I will have to measure it around dh's neck to see how long he wants, I guess. :)
