Subbing and hoping to keep better track this year!

Started working right after I posted.

1-4: 4 boxes I had been using to store thing. Still going through the 'things' so I won't count those yet

5-11: Misc video game things into a box to pass along.

Count me in! I did the 2012 in 2012, but although i met my goal, over the year I'm sure we brought in way more stuff than went out. So this time I'm going to try to track what goes out as well as what comes in. We now have  5 people, (me, DH, three year old DS, and 5 month old twins) in a 400sf apt. so i have quite a bit of motivation to clear out this space.

So THIS is where a lot of the vax forum regulars hide out! lol.gif What a lovely place to take a much-needed break from all of that!

I very much need this challenge with my growing family living in such a small space! I may proceed slowly since I have so much on my plate outside of this. I'm taking a passive approach of keeping a garbage bag in the laundry room and throwing stuff in it as I clean. When it's full, I cart it off to the good will. Now I'll just start keeping a tally of what all goes into that bag. It will be motivating to see this visual reminder of my progress.

Started the New Year by tossing 64 Holiday Cards.

Tomorrow I'm planning on tackling the closet. I've been sick and lost alot of weight.  If it doesn't fit, I'm NOT keeping it.  We are still apt sharing but will be moving soon so there is NO NEED to move extra junk.

Subbing for the third year in a row....didn't reach my goal in 2012, but I aim to make a more concerted effort this year.  It will be harder this time as most things I need to get rid of are 'good' things which are not to be binned but donated.

Tossed today

pile of old recipes

22 magazines

10 random things from drawer

7 old bras

After about 1000 items in 2011 and 1750ish in 2012, there is still more crap! Although less than before. I don't think I'll make 2013 items, but I'm going to try.

3 items today: crappy dresser, 2 broken pieces of my husband's desk.

1 project (I'm counting projects that have sat for a long time)--a friend made a knitted toy for my daughter, and finished it when she was visiting us, and gave it to me to stuff rather than taking it home and stuffing it herself and mailing it back. So now my daughter has a new stuffed animal! (Just what she needs. She only has 23609720367206 already. We may have to cull those some time.)

Put some too young kids toys in a bag for a friend with younger children, and a couple more things found in a another drawer. Felt great tossing those clothes in the charity bin - I'm lucky there's one just down the road, so only takes a couple of minutes to get clothes out the house.

I'm not great at keeping count it turns out. Bu I'm estimating 30/2013. Not sure I'll manage 2913, but I love having the goal!

ok, i'm in

didn't do much yesterday so haven't yet parted with much

am hoping that next week will be the week when i start getting to grips with my issues (when kids go back to school .... i SO need to have "time alone" by the middle of the school holidays ....) , with all the emotional issues that i have in relationship with stuff, i need to "be by myself" when i declutter .....

so, my "new goal" is to get to 200 items per month minimum, sounds like about 50 items per week  ...

Just heard about this thread the other day, I definitely got rid of more than 2012 things last year, so I'm joining this year as we got rid of most of the easy stuff already, but I still have a lot to do. I figure this will be another way to motivate myself! I have a few boxes to take to goodwill ready to go, so I'll come back to post once I have that done! I might go through my DD's toy chest tonight too and clear out a few things too.

Today's count:

5 random plastic containers or lids- trashed (not recyclable in my area)

5 pieces used packaging material- trashed

7 Christmas cards- recycled

Does clearing out kitchen cupboards count I wonder. Anyway tossed about 5-10 items out of date. I'm counting it!

Subbing. Nothing to report yet but I got some stuff out last year (625 items)  and look forward to more going this year!

Joining! I went on a massive cleaning spree in my kids' room just after Christmas, but didn't get the donations and trash out until yesterday. I'm counting it as I never manage to the end goal number.

1-31: Stuffed animals and random toys

32-40: High chair, cloth diaper stash, diaper sprayer, 2 wet bags, 2 diaper pails, and a potty chair - went to my pregnant friend

41-43: THREE stuffed full trash bags of broken toys, random bits, torn paper, cardboard boxes and rolls...ALL from my kids' room!

44-79: Books - adult ones went to local bookstore for store credit, kids' books went to a new home daycare on my street

80-91: Baby food that was still good, but my son has VERY much outgrown!

92-94: Baskets

95-154: Kids clothing - my kids get hand-me-downs from 4 other cousins, so there is a HUGE overload of clothing. They each have 2 dressers of clothing and I'm culling even more this weekend!

So...154/2013!!
