I completely fell off the wagon since my trip! I am going to dig in this weekend since I've got some alone time. I will say that even though I haven't been getting rid of things at a rate i'd like, I have also not been bringing things in aside from basics since my trip either... so that's gotta count for something, right? ;)
2013 in 2013 - Page 25
i seem to be very good at "frittering away my FREE time with no kids around" .... only 24 items discarted so far today (but i napped fo 2 hours, sorely needed, ....and ordered something on line, went to retrieve lent belonging, also went shopping for a bit ...)
1395 out of 2013
608 to go !
-10 items trashed
-2 baby carriers sold
-1 crib sold
-4 various baby items/toys given to friends
-60 bags of breastmilk donated (at least-was 238 oz in 2-4 oz increments, so I divided 238 by 4)
-338 items to consignment sale
415 + 781 = 1196/2013....passed the halfway point!! I am definitely not doing as well as last year but I'm still going to keep plugging away. We still have so much to get rid of, but I would do a lot better if I didn't have 3 intense kids needing me every second, LOL. Once we recover from this sale, I am working on my stuff and DH's stuff.
2 garbage bags of packing peanuts and bubbles
3 bags of flattened cardboard
3 boxes full of newspapers
1 broken stool
1 broken chair
1 broken room heater
1 bag of door lock parts
Cleaning in basement:
1 candle holder
1 pair of shoes
1 ice scraper
1 stuffed animal
1 huge bag recycling
3 boxes of boxes burned
1 pair of pants
2 ceramic vases
1 unused Address book
Will add these up when the donatables are in my car and on their way off my property!

I've been off this bandwagon for far too long. I haven't been decluttering for a while now. In an effort to get back on track, I've dubbed this week as decluttering week. I'm not sure how much I'm going to get rid of, as I know decluttering has become really difficult for me ever since I started being very "frugal" and "financially aware" - I keep saving things and finding new uses for them even when I would ordinarily rid of them. I'm finding it hard to rely on the thought that I could just go out and buy what I need when I need it at a later date. Things are so expensive here, so I know it's not a realistic to declutter now and buy again later. I used to call my dh a hoarder, but I think I'm actually becoming worse than him. :( I never thought I would see that day!!
I've been reading decluttering/minimalist articles and following this thread trying to get my butt back into gear, but it's been hard and I'm resistent to throwing stuff out. Anyway didn't want this to be a woe is me post, but I wanted to share why I've been absent.
Everyone is doing soooo well. I'm living vicariously through you all.
i've been motivating myself for the last few days and i thought i'd start with the easy stuff like papers, books and other peoples stuff that needs sitting in my house...
*two full bags of paper going to recycling - i'm going to count this as 20, but there were probably ~100 papers in there including many books.
*11 books donated
*14 books returned to their rightful owners
*6 dvds donated
*some shoes in the bin (completely gone), some set aside for re-sale and some donated - 10 in total
= 61 items for today!
tomorrow is shredding day! hooray! i anticipate many, many more papers leaving our house.
