STBXH emailed again today. He found a truck he wants to buy. The car he took has my name on it. He wants me to sign so he can trade it in but we are not divorced yet. Why can't he wait till we are divorsed? I just forwarded it to my lawyer, but it just seems an odd thing to do when you have more pressing things to do like actually get diverced.

Good reason to say no: debt he takes on before the divorce is final is also your debt, whether you sign for it or not, depending upon your location and the laws there.

Yeah, no way. First you need to know if you are officially separated, so that from this point on, your finances are considered separate as far as new debt and new income. Are you bank accounts separate? Do you have a provisional agreement in place? No way would I let him convince you to do ANYTHING because, as of the time you called it quits as a couple, he is no longer considering your best interests. Financially, he is potentially your enemy until everything is settled and signed by the judge. Big. Huge. Period.

The lawyer finally got back to me. She is fronting me the money filing with the court today. She said 'enough of this playing around.'
