Weight gain - Page 5

Oh I definitely feel the need for a bra, too. My nipples have gotten really sensitive already, especially to cold air, so I'd like them to be nice and covered.

We JUST found our battery charger for our camera so I hope a few pics of the labor will happen. I know this sounds really vain, but I'd like to look a little nicer in my postpartum photos this time, maybe just by putting on some colored lip gloss. My dad and stepmom have a pic up on their fridge of me and Errol right after labor and man, I look like a sick ghost! Pale white, blue lips, etc. My dad loves that picture of me (thinks I look like such a tough lady who has just done something amazing) but it's a little painful for me to look at!

DH is a film freak. I have a 0 pictures/video rule for this first one because I'm afraid he'll easily drift off into gear-land when I need him most. I told him he can go nuts right after the birth. He thought that was a good idea. ;)

bathing suit? WEIRD. i will utilize the giant tub if i am able (fingers crossed!), and i don't imagine i will be wearing anything. how goofy. hubby may want to get in with me, and he'll be wearing swim bottoms i imagine.

I ordered a few simple slip style maternity nighties to labour in but I was also kinda wondering what to wear in the birth tub... I'm not someone who wanders around naked even with my girlfriends but I wonder if I'll feel as self conscious in labour? I think I might rather just get a long tank top in a light weight microfibre or something that won't get as icky as cotton when it's wet and if I hate it I'll just ditch it.

guess i'll jump in here - I am not the type to be comfortable naked around anyone outside of my DH & little kids - and i did not care one bit about stripping off my night gown ( i went into labor at night) to get in the tub for my last birth - and i got out to change positions to push (i was in a bath tub, no room) and i wouldn't have thought for a second to put clothes on.. this time, I am planning to labor/birth in a birth tub, so i'm also planning to put on a bra in early labor - i might leave it on, and i know i won't put it on once things get intense and i'd like to have it on for decent pictures (I bought a sports bra looking nursing bra for this purpose)  it depends on a lot of things though, and there is a good chance i won't want to wear it or will take it off, i'll have someone throw me a towel if it comes to that, i have a bunch of pictures in the bath after DD2 was born where i had a towel draped over her and my boobs ..they sitll weren't really pictures i'd share with the general public but i'm glad that i'm mostly covered cause that was when my kids met their baby sister for the first time

Do you have anyone you could ask to snap a few pictures of the birth? I really regret not having many photos of the first 2 births. My doula will be taking some this time and I am excited.

Always easy to delete the photos from the camera.... can't relive that birth ever though.  Just my thoughts.

^^^Agreed. I didn't really care either way when we were planning the birth of our first but I wish I had pics now. Not DH, cause I want him with me, even if I don't want him touching me.

as far as the nakedness during labor goes-- I also do not like being naked except around my husband and im ok around my 2 yo, and I did NOT like being naked in labor at all. when in the tub, I wore a sports bra.. and there were times/pictures where my boobs are showing and i can't even look at the pics and remember feeling really self concious during/after the birth before I got some clothes on. my midwife and I talked about that this time, and she wrote it in my notes (and i told DH as well) and so i have some tanks and sports bras with my birth supplies, as well as a robe that hangs on my bathroom door, so they will know to keep me covered. even if its just a towel or blanket over me, i just don't like being naked around people.

and for pictures, yes you can easily delete them if you don't want them! and you can always say "keep it PG" (which is a rule for my pictures) and I have lots of lovely photos from my DS2 that i really enjoy looking at.. and my kids like looking at the pictures from when they were born too. :)

okay- looking into buying a cheap camera.  never bought one before.

we do LOVE the new baby pics.  and we only have an album for our first, but all our kids love looking at it.  we went digital after that and never printed any off.  but we do have them.

still, not during labor for me!  i don't think i would have mirrors in the room, nor do i want to see pics.  we don't actually have many mirrors in the house.  i'll just be doing the birth thing, and hopefully my midwife or someone (maybe hubby, but he takes notoriously bad pics) takes one or two immediate ones.  then i will step up my game and take insane baby and kid pics!!!
