When will I get my period back?

I wasn't really sure where to post this as its not a fertility question... I'm just curious.
My son was born 8 months ago and I had a copper IUD placed 4-5 months ago and I still haven't had a period. I'm only breastfeeding 2-3 times a day now and thought it was weird to not have my period yet. I've asked my family doctor and OB and they both say it's "normal"... But is it really?

Everyone is different but yes, many breastfeeding women go over a year postpartum without menstruating.

But if you are feeling like something isn't "right", bring it up with your doctor again.

Average is 14 months ish when still bfing, with a wide variation of like 2 months to 2.5 years many women go without a period, but weaning from night nursing or cutting way down on nursing will be likely to bring back your cycle within a couple months.

Yep, everybody is different!  I get mine back at 6 weeks (grrrrr) while constantly nursing a newborn and even when I was tandem nursing.  Other women still don't get it for a few months after weaning.

Same here...when I was nursing all 3 of my children and pumping for donation on top of it, I started getting them back at 3 months. (anovulatory, but still getting them).
