After careful review of the options with our family natpath, we chose to get the Infanrix brand of DTAP for our 3yr son.
The problem is that our pediatrician has an exclusionary contract with whichever pharmaceutical company she buys from, so she can't order anything different. She's willing to write a perscription for it if we can find a pharmacy that can get it, and she's willing to administer it if we can get it.
So far I can't find a pharmacy that can get it. Turns out there are two clinics in town that have it, but because it's in house and not through their pharmacy, our doc can't get it from them.
Our county health authority is willing to help us, but I haven't heard back, and my suspicion is they will not be able to help.
We can't change PCPs just to get the vaccine from one of those two clinics because our son has state health insurance, and there is currently a freeze on provider changes.
Any ideas would be most appreciated.
p.s. We are in a bit of a time crunch because our son may have to start chemotherapy at the beginning of March. I need to get this started asap so that there's time for the second one.
