Water leaking???? « Back to Group Discussions

Hi All!

I have not offically introduced myself and have only lurked thus far. I am Amanda & I am almost 40 weeks on the 17th of December.

I have been slowly losing my mucous plug and having contractions off and on since Friday. Nothing consistant or very painful.

Tonight, I felt like I pee'd my pants... I have a lot of pressure due to baby being very low in my pelvis but I am actually wondering if my water has started to "leak" as some call it.

This is my 4th pregnancy and I have always had to have my water broke by my midwife while in active labor. Since I still only feel very mild, non regular contractions I am wondering how I can tell for sure if it has broken?

Will it continue to leak if it really has or could it be off and on throughout the evening??

I had a pin prick leak a few hours before my water fully broke, and I can't remember if it kept leaking or not. (It was 6 years ago.) I would definitely call your midwife so she can at least be on alert.

Hi! If it's a small leak, it could leak for days or could break totally really soon. Do you have/could you get some PH paper? The ph is different from fluid to really watery mucus to urine. If it's not much and you are able to sleep, you should get some rest while you can! You could be having a baby tomorrow if it is!

Thanks ladies! I went to have a healthy 9lb and 10 oz baby girl that morning! Midwife and doula both think my water probably did leak but was sealed up by baby's head since baby was super low! :) Water I think broke when I first pushed since I felt a huge gush... 2 pushes more later she was here!
