Hi all- I used to receive mothering magazine but hadn't gotten on-board with the on-line thing. A search for birth trauma support brought me to these forums so I decided to (finally) join. I have a wonderful 4yo son who co-sleeps and breast feeds (yup, 4 years!). I am in the peculiar position of having had breast reduction surgery many many moons ago and had to supplement breast milk with formula, so I am a firm believer of mother's right to nourish and nurture her babe in whatever manner is feasible for her and said babe. I am also in the (hopefully unusual) position of having had a very bad experience with a home birth midwife. I feel strongly about supporting the reality of the mothering experience in whatever form it may take. I dearly love mothering and the ideals it espouses, and I want to be sure that mothers have support even and especially if their experiences deviate from the "norm" (which in this population is having a home-birth and exclusive bfing). I personally have found very little support in both these arenas so I guess I joined to both give and receive support. Thanks!
