I'm planning a traditional (and easy!) Puerto Rican dinner.
Pork Roast
Pastles
Arroz y gandules (rice and beans)
Green salad
We do a lot of nice finger foods (good cheeses, homemade breads, seafood dips, and so on)
Ham
Scalloped potatoes with too much heavy cream
Some veggie
And a plethora of rich deserts. Fudge, chocolate cakes with layers and layers and layers of jams and things...more fudge?
Every year my MIL insists on bringing meatballs and pasta whether or not it goes with our meal. Every year I say okay because it's not a big deal really if it doesn't go (although my foodie mom gets peeved) and it's yummy for leftovers.
Thanks for sharing! These all sound delicious!
We always have pies - pumpkin, sweet potato, pecan, apple, and cherry. We also do dressing from homemade cornbread from my grandmother's recipe. Really good stuff!
Our family has always done something simple, since Thanksgiving was just a month ago! I think this year we're doing homemade veggie lasagna with crusty bread. We always go big on desert, so I know there will be pies and cakes and cookies galore. We always decorate sugar cookies, too.
I have no idea! Every year we go to my parents and have turkey and dressing with all the trimmings. This year we are going Christmas Eve instead of Christmas day - so - that means I have to COOK! Looking for ideas - I'm thinking roast beef and mashed potatoes.
