My brother and his partner live on St John and are due around Christmas. I am a doula and will be traveling to be with them soon. They originally wanted a homebirth, but due and insurance and the lack of licensed midwives, they were planning a natural hospital birth on St Thomas.
After touring the hospital this week they called in panic. They only allow one support person, mandatory IV, no food and drink, no showers, no rooming in....they really don't want to give birth there.
Someone must know a homebirth midwife close by, I met a nice midwife when I was there 3 years ago, but lost her card. Any leads would be most appreciated.
