You know they have secret boards now. Came out before Christmas to keep presents quiet. But works well for the baby aspect too.
I really have to finish the blanket I am making for my nephew.
For my Nene I will be making lots of things or at least I plan on it for when they are little.

I have secret baby and birth boards now. But I have pinning stuff since before we started trying.

Ok, crafty mamas, do you have any baby blanket knitting patterns.  I was looking at the free ones on Ravelry and nothing caught my eye.  I might have to buy a pattern.  Let me know if you have any recs.

So, this is not for this baby right now, but eventually it will be, but had to post this super cute pic of my DD with an almost finished diaper cover on her head. love.gif  She thought I was making her another hat.  lol

Ok, looks like I'm going to knit this http://lahelaknits.blogspot.com/2010/06/rainbow-lattice-baby-blanket-pattern.html  blanket for babe.

I'm going to knit this http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baby-cocoon-9  baby cocoon.

So exciting!!  Plus I'll probably start a couple more diaper covers.

Oh and this is the video I found if you need to know how to do an LT and RT like I did.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dtk-6qQ6_iI

Cathy, that picture of your DD is adorable! love.gif

Ooo, I should knit a baby cocoon.  I got some yummy buttery yellow yarn on clearance at a little shop near us and was wondering what to do with it.  I'm very much a beginner, but that seems like something I could handle with a little help from my advance knitter friends I am lucky to have locally...

Speaking of which, I made some progress on my simple baby sweater and got to the point of "using a 3 needle bind off..."  I have no idea what that is.  lol.gif  I have a knitting night towards the end of the month, so I'm sure my friends will get me through it.  It not only takes a village to raise a child, it seems to take one for me to finish a sweater!

Thank you.  I think so too, but I'm biased. orngtongue.gif

That sounds like lovely yarn for a cocoon.  I'm sure you'll do just fine. I think that uses the magic loop and its not that hard and there are videos on knittinghelp.com.  I think I'm going to leave the bottom open for easy diaper changes though.

That is awesome that you have local friends that can help.

I started a knitted blanket while ttc and I've been working on that though its slow going. I'm also working on a cocoon. Both in neutral colors of course. Once I find out the gender I'm sure there will be some upcycled longies, diaper covers and such.

I have a feeling this blanket I have started is going to take awhile too.   I'm on the 5th row.  Hehehe. It'll be pretty when I'm done.  It's not going to exactly look like a rainbow, but it will be close.

I have a couple of things planned now. I'm going to knit some booties and DD and I picked this out last night:

I've never quilted before though so I'm not sure it will actually get done ;)

That quilt is ADORABLE, Carmen...

Carmen, my mom is addicted to making puffy quilts.  That one is darling!

Cathy, those links are great!  It's definitely inspired me to make a couple cocoons for the babies in my extended family.  Good luck on the blanket.  The last blanket I knit took me 7 years to finish.  But I DID finish it.  :P

Can't wait to see everyone's progress on their projects!

I love the puffy quilt.  I usually do a quilt for the baby, but were moving and I haven't gotten my sewing machine out since the last time we moved and it needs to be serviced so I'm working on knitting a blanket.

Hah!!  I know it seems like knitting a blanket is going to take FOREVER!  I think I picked one that keeps changing it up enough that I think I will be able to keep at it, but we'll see.  It's also a pattern with stitches I've never done before so that keeps me motivated as well.  I should take a pic to show y'all updates.  My dh says it looks like a double helix so far.  orngtongue.gif

I don't know if I posted the link to all the baby blankets and cocoon patterns.  Here it is:

Great projects everyone!  You are all so inspiring!

I bought fabric to make a quilt for my nephew when he was born... I even cut out the pieces.  He is 14yo now.  But I actually sewed it together during my last pregnancy.  It is even partially quilted, just need to bind it.  Maybe I could actually finish that before our due date!

I love the idea of knitting longies and soakers, but I need to be real with myself.  I think by the time I finished one, the child would be fully potty trained!  Did anyone see the Thrifty Challenge from a couple of months ago?  A woman was making longies, or maybe just long-johns, out of the arms of thrift store sweaters.  Maybe that is more realistic for me.  I just found a really good thrift store yesterday!

FarmerCathy>  I love the knittingpatterncentral!  Another good link is the http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/ (for the hookers out there).

I've made soakers from sweaters. It's very easy and quick.

I'm lobbying DH hard to make a wall mounted changing table. Apparently it is common in Germany for baby changing to happen in the bathroom, which I guess makes good sense. Our bathroom is rather small, so it will take some designing, but it may make a good project.

I would love one of those too, we'd have a good spot in our downstairs bathroom.  I want to say Ikea had one for a while, I wonder if they still do...hmm...

I think that could be neat. I see a lot of fold out desk type things on pinterest.
