I am on the hunt for good prices/places to buy humanely raised chicken and other meats. I'd prefer organic or places that use organic practices. I've been mdriving 30 mins - and hour every week to mostly buying meats at Trader Joes and Wegmans. We pov ether, but I feel like there just must be a better way! Help?

You can try localharvest.org to see if they have any listing by you! Best of luck! smile.gif

I found someone at a local farmer's market. This time of year, that might not work. I'm in PA, so I don't think it would help you any.

Try a natural food store, if there's one closer to you than Trader Joe's. Natural food store sometimes carry meats, some of it organic.

Yeah, I've been traveling to either Trader Joe's or Wegmans to get the fresh stuff.  Gosh I wish more farms would be listed on localharvest!  I love them, but around me its not showing meat/poultry (or the ones that do don't exist anymore.)  Ugh.  I'm going to keep trying.  If I do find someplace I'll post it for others too!

Believe it or not, Costco sells Coleman Organic chicken breast and dark meat. I think the price is reasonable and they're convenient.

There's also Fossil Farms in Boonton (http://fossilfarms.com/) - I haven't tried their meat, but they claim to have a wide selection of organics. For something a bit more local, there's delivery from uddermilk.com. Kinda black-market-ish, but worth checking out. We've enjoyed their raw milk and cream, and have tried their meat once or twice, but it's easier to stock up from Costco.

For real local, there's Mini Mac Farm (http://www.minimacfarm.com/), which I've seen advertised in "Edible Jersey" and "Natural Awakenings". Lastly, there's lists of NJ farms here by county http://www.naturaljersey.com/farms-open-to-the-publicfarm-standspick-your-own.html and here by zip http://www.nofanj.org/findafarm.htm .

Hope that helps a bit.
