Preventing hyperemesis and severe morning sickness? - Page 8

Alright ladies...is this thread dead? Are we all fluffy and happy in the second trimester?

I'm doing pretty well.  Still weak and nauseous, but functional--and earlier than in either of my previous pregnancies! I am 16 weeks, I haven't thrown up in a week, and I'm up 10 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight. Ugh.

I may post more later, but I wanna know how you all are doing!

I think I've "graduated" from this thread.  :)  I am 16 weeks, and have not thrown up for 4 days.  Plus I can eat in the morning AND at night.  CRazy! :P

I don't know if I'm a graduate exactly, but I'm at least a sophomore or junior. I have had more vomiting since the stomach bug, but it's been random and never more than once in a day. I still have to force myself to eat at night because I'm both hungry and terribly nauseous. I'm right at my pre-pregnancy weight, even though I am looking rather enormous at 19 weeks. Still very fatigued and going to bed early, but I'm functioning at work and at home. I'm not the energetic, gourmet home chef I was pre-pregnancy, but I don't wish regularly for death. How's that for a cheery, optimistic update? Ha ha. Wishing all you ladies the best!

I am really glad you all are feeling better (at least somewhat). :)  I have no more nausea, just really exhausted from all that went on last month.  Between the loss of my grandfather and having to rush to pack up the house and move I went some nights without sleeping, some days without eating much and just overworked myself in general.  I was worried that the baby wouldn't be okay, but was able to get in with the midwife and heard the heartbeat, so apparently the baby is fine.  We've been moved for 5 days now and things are settling down a bit, so I'm looking forward to being able to take care of myself.  I am still at my pre-pregnancy weight, probably because of previous nausea and stress, but my belly is HUGE!  Everyone can't believe how big I am for 17 weeks.  Well, it's late and I feel like I'm rambling now, but I really hope the remaining bit of nausea eases up for you ladies.

So glad everyone's improving! I'm 18wks now. I had a good week plus of no vomiting, but that didn't last, either. greensad.gif It's been intermittent and mostly associated with hunger, but I have also awoken in the middle of the night a few nights in a row, even when I went to bed feeling fine. Sigh. I'm hoping if I can keep up better with food that I'll stave it off. But I'm always throwing up straight through, if intermittently, so I know not to get my hopes up.

Same here. "Nauseous, but functional". Dry heaves sporadically in the morning. Aversions are still pretty strong, but I am eating.  Definitely more quesy when i have gone too long without eating or indulge in something with gluten (gluten is an issue pregnant or not, but have less will power now more than ever). BUT, i went 4 days without any zofran after going down to one a day at night.  Last night i had to take one, i did not think dinner was going to stay down without it.

Oh and same with you other ladies, i am up 12 lbs from prepreg now, but my belly is huge and sticking straight out already! I'm short, it doesn't have really much other place to go though :)

You know, I've been meaning to change the name of this thread from "preventing" to "combating" so googlers and lurkers don't end up here looking for any actual solutions, lol.

I am so happy to read that everyone is doing better, even if occasionally queasy. That is SO much better than trips to the ER and zofran pumps!

AFM, I am ok. Still on phenergan and very nauseous without, but functional and only occasionally puking and dry heaving. I am definitely doing better at 18 weeks than with my other pregnancies. But I am so weak!!!! I just have no energy, and I am over being pregnant. I am so jealous of you ladies who are at 20+ weeks! But I am doing ok--eating pretty well, cooking (my kids are really appreciative now!!), and I'm even performing a little! I've also gotten back into the routine of homeschooling and have planted a little container garden with the kids. Yeah, I have five more uncomfortable months ahead of me, but life is good!

So glad things are going better for you, songbird!! I've also been able to cook more and get some things accomplished. Not enough, to be sure, but something and that's a lot better! I'm throwing up randomly and without much warning, but there are times where I feel sick but get past it, too, so that's good.

I'm sitting here in the car, waiting for my eldest to get out of drama class, passing out as I type. Yeah, I get the no energy! :/ I know if I can get more supplements back in my routine that I'll do better. But it's still hard to swallow meds.

Oh! I need to get my labs done. I finally filled out the extra tests I need on the requisition form and now need to brave the lab with four kids in tow. Hopefully today... And hopefully it'll give some insight that will help!

So glad for some improvement and sunshine for you, songbird! You deserve it! We all do!

HeatherB, all along it seems like you've been describing my pregnancy perfectly. I think we're on parallel trajectories.

I threw up really randomly several times this week, but I *think* it was related to pollen/ensuing vertigo, but I can never really be sure these days. It seems like if I have any little thing wrong, the pregnancy part of me just encourages that little step to go directly to actual vomiting. Got a cough? Vertigo? Long day? Why not just go ahead and vomit? Ugh. This is such a strange thing to say, but in normal times, vomiting is on my list with death of things I reeeeeally don't like to do, but I've become almost resigned lately. I mean, I really don't throw up that much anymore, but I feel kind of like Eeyore. Oh well...this again. Hello.

Thinking of all you ladies and hoping for continued mostly-not sick days for us all. <3

I'm on my 2nd week of no puking, I'm 21 weeks now. Still on the max dose of diclectin along with the other medications I need for the acid reflux. :( I was down 11 lbs from my pre-preg weight within 6 weeks (starting getting sick at 4 weeks, was puking over 20 times a day) but I'm happy to announce I'm 3 lbs over my pre-preg weight now and able to go to the gym like 4 times a week again! :)

So happy to be getting back to normal, but I'm absolutely terrified to ever get pregnant again. My HG was even worse this time than it was last time....
