Where do you get your felt?

I want to make some felt animals over the winter and am wondering where everyone gets good quality felt from.  The stuff at the craft store doesn't feel so nice, as you probably know.  The price is right, but you get what you pay for...

(As a side note, I have a bit from my mom's sewing box, probably dating back to the 70s and it is so much nicer and heavier - and I'm sure she got it at the local Ben Franklin or something.)

I find felting sweaters to be my best bet.I did find some wool felt at my local Micheals a while back that I liked.

I felt sweaters too.  There's a thrift store here that does occasional 50% off sales.  I go and buy large/xl men's wool sweaters and then run them through the washing machine on high twice and the dryer on high twice.  Works great!

I bought some from my local Waldorf school once. I've also seen various sellers on etsy that sell wool felt sheets but I've never bought from them.
