So I had my 36 week apt with my MW today. I had the GB test done and while my pants were off she checked me. Well, wasn't I surprised to find out that my cervix is super thin and I'm already at a 1!!!  WOAH! Now DH and are really convinced this kid will make an earlier than anticipated arrival.

I have SO much lower cervical pressure. The MW said if she had wanted to, she could've felt the babies head....

Now I need to not have the baby from Jan 7-10 because DH is on the wrong coast. Also I really need to name this kid!!!

EEP! Feeling the crunch now...so much to do...eep

So happy for you that your cervix is thinned! And she could feel the babys head.  Now no matter how I say this it is going to be taken as a knock and I am not trying to do that...but you do know that all women that have had babies are basically walking around at 1 cm dilated right?  I hope your midwife told you that and to not hold your breath(even though baby could come tomorrow!) dilation is really not a good measure of when the baby is coming.  However there is a good correlation between thinning of the cervix and a shorter early labor time, so yay for you!  Good luck I hope your baby and mine come exactly at the time that is perfect for them and that it is soon!

It's good to know that you're body is getting ready!  As Anahata said above, though, none of that will tell you when your baby is coming.  I went into labor with my first just about closed and tight, had a natural, 9 hour labor.  My 2nd baby- I was 4cm and 80% effaced for WEEKS, and had a 32 hour labor.  I don't know about babies 3 or 4, because after the experience with #2, I decided I didn't want to be checked in late pregnancy and get my hopes up for a birth that was coming soon, or a birth that would be fast.  There's just no way to predict it!

This time, I'm okay with cervical checks, but that's really only because I've been contracting so much, it makes me feel better to know that the contractions aren't just annoying, but they are actually doing something.  LOL  Right now I'm only a fingertip dilated, but 70% effaced, and my cervix is so soft it's mushy.  My cervix is also very low (which is different for me, it's usually like climbing the Alps to find my cervix until time to push), and the baby is low as well.  All of these things tell me NOTHING about what labor will be like or when, they only tell me that the contractions I've been having are slowly preparing my body.

oh yes I know it doesn't mean much being a cm dilated. It's just crazy that I'm already so thin and mushy etc. I was just surprised. Also knew that about all women having had a babe before vaginally automatically being 1 due to the cervix never completely closing again....

That's good that your body is doing some work for you already!  Hopefully your baby will come when your DH is there.  :)

Here's hoping! I am having so many strong contractions it's unbelievable. I'm using the toilet like it's going out of style and it is just crazy!
It shall be interesting to say the least. We still need a name. Ugh

I've been having a ton of contractions too-some pretty convincing/timeable ones all day yesterday-but nada. :( I had dh check me and I'm pretty effaced and slightly dilated. It's hard not to get excited when you get some action going on in there :)

Ditto! I even had a trip to L&D yesterday because I was in such a good labor pattern. Then I stalled...not sure if it was the atmosphere or what..
