Single working mom wants to homeschool

I am a single working (about 30 hours a week, 4 days a week) mom that would LOVE to homeschool my boys.

Is anyone else in the same boat as me? Know someone who is? Is it possible? How do you make it work?

How old are your kids? How flexible is your job? Any chance of working from home? Any willing grandparents in the area? I am not a single mom, but I do work about 15 hours per week. Most hs'ers I know here do work some. My dc are 8 and 10, and they are able to be by themselves for an hour or two at a time. I work from home, so they aren't alone, but because of the nature of my work, they can't interrupt me unless there is a real emergency.

When I started homeschooling, I got together with some others hs'ers and started a community learning center for hs'ers that is drop-off. My kids go there one or two days per week. They get to be with friends and learn fun stuff, and I get to work. There may be others of those kinds of places. (Here in the Philly area, there are 3 such places.) Also, in some places, schools allow part-time enrollment.

If your kids are old enough to be alone sometimes,there are a lot of good instruction opportunities on-line that a learner could pursue pretty independently.

Would your kids also like to homeschool?
